I made a transfer from my current account (HSBC) to my chase account, but the transfer which normally is quite quick hasn't shown up yet. Anyone else having issues today?#
Update - took longer than usual but it has shown up now:)0 -
Looks like payments are being delayed again.
I've been with Chase for a while, but never had issues like this.
Might have to switch to Virgin

I joined Chase just yesterday and did a couple of transfers from my Starling account just to make sure everything was ok. I think the longest one took was about two minutes but I do wonder if this is down to me being a new customer.

Overnight or Sat/Sun is when most banks do maintenance, so your instance may just be due to that.PParka said:Looks like payments are being delayed again.

Which bank is the other end (another user reported issues with Santander).0 -
It seems unlikely that Chase has implemented a system whereby it waves through the transfers of new customers without checks, or pointlessly holds up transfers of only its longer term customers.jasonwatkins said:I joined Chase just yesterday and did a couple of transfers from my Starling account just to make sure everything was ok. I opened my account on the 29-03-22,
Ive only had one payment out take more than 5 mins to arrive.
The issue I had was First Direct not wanting to credit the funds to Chase.
3 fraud checks on payments.0 -
It's certainly nothing I'm too bothered about as I've had situations before where I've had to wait for things as a new customer.masonic said:

I wonder if the other potential cause of "slow" payments is that they're having so many people sign up for these accounts that they're just doing some minor "throttling" of sorts just to ensure everything goes through smoothly ?.

I don't think the people who have had to wait days for their payments to be released would consider this to be everything going through smoothly. The most simple and likely explanation is that Chase implemented some form of stricter fraud checks, which held up far more transactions than they had the capacity to process, leading to a huge backlog.jasonwatkins said:

I tried to transfer £10k from Chase to Atom on Monday evening and received a message saying the payment would be delayed for security checks that may involve them ringing me. I received a call yesterday morning and they asked for basic details of what the transfer was for. When I told him it was going to Atom, he commented that a few people were doing the same. During the call, I was asked to go into the app and press to confirm it was me. The transfer then went through instantly. I noticed that I had been sent 2 messages through the app on Monday night asking me to arrange a convenient time for Chase to ring me. I obviously didn't see these till after the call.#660
