If you go to https://www.britishgas.co.uk/GetAQuote/tariff-information, pop your postcode in and select the tariff you'll be able to get your figures. Why they couldn't put this in the email I don't know.Declan01 said:
So how did people find the Price Promise Apr 2022 tariff? I checked the T&C's for the tariff and it doesn't give details, except saying it is the same as the price cap. Useless!3 -
I looked at the Sainsburys energy and Eons tariff and I noticed that both requires you to install a smart meter on certain tariffs. I didn't think they could do that??0

I've previously been on a tariff that required moving over to a smart meter. They only got in contact with me once about it. I'm unsure if you could get away with just ignoring them about it lolTezFair said:I looked at the Sainsburys energy and Eons tariff and I noticed that both requires you to install a smart meter on certain tariffs. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -
It is perfectly legal for suppliers to offer tariffs just for smart metered homes. One of the terms of the contract if you want this tariff, and you do not have a smart meter is that you AGREE to have a smart meter fitted.TezFair said:I looked at the Sainsburys energy and Eons tariff and I noticed that both requires you to install a smart meter on certain tariffs. Is PFP still taking direct debits? It looks as though cancelling is causing issues with fees being applied. If they aren't taking payments any more I'll leave it, but if they are still taking DDs I might cancel mine as I'm already £150 in credit.0

On comparison websites, use the Sept 2022 tariff as I saw the prices are very similar to Apr 2022 tariff. That way you can get a close enough estimate about whether there are other tariffs in the market that are better value than the BG tariff.Declan01 said:I can't check the new "Price Promise Apr 2022" tariff because it isn't on the price comparison sites. There is a "Sep 2022" tariff on the Cheap Energy Club and on MoneySupermarket, but not the "Apr 2022" tariff.

Alternatively the FAQs on BG's website for PfP customers contains details of the Apr 2022 tariffs including the unit costs/standing charges.Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared - Buddha0 -
I agree it's really tempting to attempt a switch to Sainsbury's, I suppose the worst that could happen is waiting months to get any credit back from British Gas, or the switch gets refused and you still end up with British Gas.tux900 said:
No, in my case here's one such comparison:Stompa said:
They say:jeremygiles said:British Gas are putting PfP customers (direct debit and quarterly billing) onto the Price Promise Apr 2022 tariff.
"If you pay for your energy by Direct Debit or quarterly bill, we’ve created a new tariff for our PFP Energy customers - Price Promise Apr 2022. Its currently cheaper than any other tariffs on price comparison websites. We’ve competitively priced in line with the Ofgem energy price cap and it doesn’t have an exit fee."
I've not tried a price comparison yet, but is that true?
British Gas Price Promise Apr 2022:
Gas: 4.169p/kWh, 26.123p/day
Electricity: 20.680p/kWh, 24.113p/day
Sainsbury's Energy 1 Year Fix and Reward v19 (No Exit Fees):
Gas: 3.961p/kWh, 19.273p/day
Electricity: 19.818p/kWh, 17.262p/day
So British Gas are expensive in *all* respects. How they can make such a claim to be cheaper? It's just an outright lie!
I'm really tempted to jump now whilst it's still available, and if it fails hopefully the worst that will happen is I end up back in the expensive British Gas pool that I'm in now.
These are strange times, I just read that compare the market has suspended energy quotes because of what's happening in markets.

BG have sent me an email today stating to Reset Your Password, which I'm presuming it's to do with the takeover of my PfP energy account.
Reading some of the comments on here, i feel confident to start the process to switch to either Igloo or Sainsburys as they are working out much cheaper than BG - still higher than PfP prices, but that's a lost cause now! I'll leave the PfP DD on my bank account so that there is less chance of them charging £12, which some people have pointed out has been charged by PfP.

They can't force you to have a smart meter, although they can make it a condition of certain tarriffs.TezFair said:I looked at the Sainsburys energy and Eons tariff and I noticed that both requires you to install a smart meter on certain tariffs. I didn't think they could do that??
Can someone educate me on the objections to smart meters please.
This is for my own education not prying into anyone else's decisions. Thanks0 -
I cancelled my DD the day after the Sept payment was due ( 9th Sept). Just noticed on my bank account that they set up another DD (without my authorisation) and took money from my account this morning. Have contacted the bank to get it reversed. CHECK YOUR ACCOUNTS NOW!

PFP are still saying that they refunded me over £1k but bank confirms that it hasn't. Been onto Ofgem and have to wait until British Gas can show the Account balance transferred over from PFP Energy..
