PfP Energy ceases trading - here's everything you need to know

I got smart meters installed by PfP (SMS their contractor) in July, but electricity meter was faulty and only gas was reporting daily. Electricity meter swapped in September and now both are reporting daily, or rather were until 11th of September.
I use app Bright and check the usage, quite like it. I'm interested to see, how much gas I will use per day in winter. You are right it kills privacy, because looking at reading in the app, I can tell if my husband was cooking or heated water for shower (when I'm away from home).
I'm glad both meters are working now and hopefully it will help with mess with providers.1 -
Started the process of switching to Sainsburys 1 year fixed tariff. This tariff does require a smart meter to be installed (if you don't have one). Cheapest fixed tariff with no exit fees i could find. Let's hope they (or E.ON who they are licensing from) can deal with BG / PFP for the switch to progress smoothly.Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. I have deciced to stick with BG, partly because I don't want the meter, but because for a penny or so per Kwh, I will stay with a bigger player. Seems to me that if you not one of the big ones, you might be repeating this process again.
Whilst BG isn't PfP prices, it's still 5p Kwh cheaper that what SP was offering me a few months back and only a fraction of a penny more that I was paying SP's outgoing tariff, so for our house we had two cheap months and now back to where we were for the last 3 years.0 -

Can someone educate me on the objections to smart meters please.
This is for my own education not prying into anyone else's decisions. ThanksDon't want to derail this thread, but the main reasons behind the strong arm rollout tactics haven't been publicised anything like as much as the trivia (the shiny toy that soon gets hidden away in a drawer). The objections include:-- Cost: About £475 per household (yes, you're paying via higher bills) but it's officially estimated that it may save you a paltry £11 per year (yes, only eleven pounds). These Parliamentarians think it's Not So Smart.
- Privacy: do you really want all sorts of unknown people snooping on your lifestyle to build a 'highly personalised profile' to work out when you're at home, when you're on holiday, when you go to bed etc so that they can monetise you?
- Rationing: Every smart electricity meter has a kill switch, every gas smart meter has a cut-off valve, and both are remotely controlled. When there's not enough energy to go round (notably electricity, which can't be stored easily) load limiting will restrict the power you can use at peak times and / or the total number kilowatt hours supplied. If you don't obey, then the meter disconnects your supply: 'load shedding' means you have your own personal power cut imposed. Similarly, time of use tariffs can make electricity prohibitively expensive at peak times.
So if you agree to a smart meter say Goodbye to privacy and Hello to being controlled by it !1 - Cost: About £475 per household (yes, you're paying via higher bills) but it's officially estimated that it may save you a paltry £11 per year (yes, only eleven pounds). There's an ignore poster function on another forum I inhabit. I just have to do it mentally here.

Anybody else noticed a change in the standing charge rates?
I was billed on the 23rd August at a rate of 19.22 and it now shows at 27.07

Have you cancelled the direct debit? When I joined they messed up the DD, and it went to non DD rates .0

I had an e-mail from them today asking for meter readings before they switch me to BG,but unable to log on to my account with PfP so will hang on to the readings till the ombudsman sorts out this mess.0
