Thankyou for the new thread @elsiepac and yes I'd like to carry on doing this as I find the thread really helpful for stopping me buying everything interesting I see on the shelves!
Please would you make my budget for the calendar month £120.
That should cover all food, toiletries, and cleaning items for a one person household, thanks again, goldfinches.4 -
Hi, put me down for £180 this month. The other £70 of my usual budget has been spent at the butchers so the freezer is crammed, as are the cupboards. Still buzzing from sticking to budget in August so keen to see if I can do this4

Thanks for the thread @elsiepac. I'm back after a few months off because of holidays keep interrupting the month but nothing planned for September although try and get away for a couple of weekends in the motorhome but that will mean food from home so including in the Grocery budget.
Can you put me down for £250 for the calendar month. Thank you.

Newbie to the grocery challenge here!!
family of 3, my target for the first month is £400. Hoping to cut this down quite a bit but want to be realistic.
Hoping I can grab a few YS bargains this month as I’ve learned the best times for our local stores. Am also going to do a monthly Lidl shop for basics. Don’t need too much this month as did a very big shop last month.
please put me down for £400 for September.

Hello, I'm back to join in, please.
Please will you put me down for £350 for September? That's for 2 adults, a 14yo, a nearly 12yo, and 1 cat, and I'll run it for 1-30 September, see how I get on.
Thank you

Ooh, new people - welcome to the challenge. Lots of people to help (and with whom you can confess or share your pain) and lots of tried and tested ways to save money.
I work with an annual budget that divides up as an average £200 a month, £400 for stores (spares, offers on brands that won't expire and YS going in the freezer) and I need to be aware there has not been a siege in Suffolk for quite a while now (1216, King John took Framlingham Castle, after a short siege) - so I probably don't need a year's supply... and finally a double month for December so I can splash out for Christmas. This year I have £500 put aside for contingency because I was not sure how the pandemic and Brexit might impact UK (it seems from the news that the driver shortage is the worst thing, currently).
Anyway - good luck everyone and make sure you know what you have in, only buy what you need (from your list!) and shop less frequently, so you are less temptedSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread
