Hello everyone
Grocery Sept Challenge £21.86/£170
I paid in cash as trying to avoid using the debit card as cash is more ouchy to spend. Popped to Al as I normally go to L.
Mainly veg, fruit, coconut oil, peanut butter, dips, nuts - no meat/fish as loads in the freezer and trying to eat it down and of course 2 packs tortilla chips -
I am also tracking my actual foods I buy this month in my phone on the back of a MSE suggestion.
This is my first full month at this so lets see what happens, normal budget is £200 so this month is a £30 cut - just me but I live in Central London. Considering trying Dalston food market as apparently much cheaper.
NSD 1/10DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Small world @Suffolk_lass I used to use Strutton Ground too; it was only about a 10 minute walk from my office - until they decided to move the office down towards Holborn! Then I'd wander round Covent Garden but nothing cheap there!
Forgot a few things when I went shopping yesterday so as I was going to SW this morning decided to pop to Mr Ts where I spent £5.22 and £2 in the Land of Ice so now have £221.38/£250 left. Also needed some frozen stuff which came from the Bulk Fund.2 -
Grocery shopping today, ‘big’ monthly shop at L*dl, downgraded quite a few items - tin foil, mayonnaise, crisps, baked beans. I’ll see if anyone notices. £106.60 and stuck to the list. £106.60/3002

I'm just back from blackberry picking along the river bank and now sitting with a coffee enjoying reading everyone's posts.
I bought lilies, milk and plums at M*rks yesterday evening and spent £12.85 which makes my new total £22.17/£120 and my average daily spend a whopping £7.39 so I'm intending to lean on my freezer rather heavily until I have got that figure down a bit.2 -
JoeDenise and Suffolklass - I used to go to Stratton Ground market too because my dad worked in Victoria Street and to The Cut because my mum worked round the corner from there. We bought our flowers from Buster Edwards back in the day.
I haven't spent any of my grocery money yet this month, but that's because I did a humongous shop at L on 31st August 🤣2 -
Well, another one who used to shop in Strutton Ground here! Lived in Regency St., worked in Tothill St. - long ago! And before that, The Cut, as we lived in Lambeth.
So far the only money I've spent on current grocery needs is £30 at the market this morning. There has been a bit more, but that was replacing stuff that the moths had got into, and as far as I'm concerned that comes out of capital, not running money! It's not that much, to be honest, as I'm not replacing everything, only stuff we're likely to use up within its dates.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)3
