As my colleague Jonny has already mentioned, these sinks are very difficult to scratch - we have tried it ourselves here in the office with the samples we have - so our initial feeling was something pretty unusual has happened to the sink

I have been using my 2nd stainless steel sink. I can't believe the difference its brilliant and it only cost me £50 ,no hard water marks, always shiney. If it came in black it would have been amazing for my kitchen but that model has glass top.0

Harry. You have Tectonite? (I have Fragranite).I've just looked at that YouTube video again. The title is misleading, so I read the comments for clarification - the Tectonite 'won' - it's the one on the right.I don't know what to suggest - other than what I've already said in quite a long post - but these sinks, afaIk, are superb, both types.Yours - again afaIk - has a crack, a fracture in it. Most likely this was caused by a pretty significant knock, I suspect on that vertical side of the bowl which flexed slightly as a result. The movement travelled as far as the upper edge where the additional stiffness of the sink top there stopped the movement in its tracks - and that's where the crack appeared. That is only my guess. Do with that info what you wish. But please don't slag off Franke products, because as far as I can see, they are great. Something caused this crack, and no-one currently knows what it was. And that's likely to remain the case.If you don't want to buy or fit another Franke product, that's your call. But I don't think there's any practical reason not to, just an emotive one.The sinktop that'll pop straight in is the exact same 'top.Have you called up LegProt - which you have - for advice? I suggest again that you do, and listen to what they say. If there's a case to be made, they'll tell you.0
