Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I have an account with BT for Phone, Broadband, Phone and Mobile. The latter is for two Sim Only accounts (one's my wife's) and as there is a price increase on 31 March, I am ditching the mobile contract and going to Martin's Lebara deal. I know it's easy getting the PAC but a liitle confused of when.

If I purchase the Lebara SIMs today, will it be okay to wait until nearer the date to activate them, or something else. I note I am being billed for all the above services on the 15th of the month that may mean I should do it as soon as I set up an account with Lebara?

Just bumping this as the above still works but I thought to collate step-by-step instructions in one place.

    1. Make sure you're not logged into your Lebara account. This will not work if you are already logged into Lebara.

    2. Check MSE or USwitch for a tariff. The number to look at is not the cost of the promotional deal but the normal deal after the promotion ends as this is the one that you'll be able to transfer to your existing Lebara SIM.

So for example, if you're looking at the MSE deal for 3GB data which costs £1.25 for 6 months and then reverts to the normal price of £4.40 thereafter, it's the non-promotional £4.40 tariff that will be applied to your existing Lebara SIM. You won't get the promotional deal unless you order a new SIM with a new number.

    dc_scotland on page 3;

    3. Once you've selected a tariff, click the Buy button on the tariff details page. This adds it to the basket and takes you to a page where prompting you to enter your name and address. Ignore this and move onto the next step (you can leave the tab open or close it).

    4. Go to https://www.lebara.co.uk/ and click the Login link to log into your account.

    5. Once logged into your Lebara account, go to https://www.lebara.co.uk/en/cart/lebara-sim-choice.html which will prompt you to select the SIM you want to apply the tariff to that you chose in step 3 above, and which is still in the basket.

    6. Carry on through to use your saved payment details to make the payment. The tariff is applied immediately so you can do this on the last day before it renews if you want to make the most of your existing promo deal before it reverts to the normal tariff.

Hope this helps, and thanks to all above who shared the initial details, I'm just repeating them with a step-by-step list that's easier to follow.
Unfortunately this seems to no longer work - I get an error message "We are sorry, you cannot buy this plan or add-on alongside your existing plan or allowances."

I got that trying to change from a MSE plan to another MSE Plan.  I tried again changing to the U Switch equivalent (5p more expensive!) and it went through ok.

Just to clarify, you mean you were able to switch from an MSE Lebara deal onto a new MSE Lebara deal without having to leave and come back? And if yes did you still get the promotional rate for the first x amount of months before it increases?

if yes to both of those, could you please just list step by step what you did in a bullet point-like format just to make it clearer than some of the other comments. Thanks in advance!

Uswitch to MSE wouldnt work but picking a different Uswitch plan worked fine...maybe MSE plans no longer work via this method?

I went from MSE deal (5GB) to USwitch (10GB) as I need a bit more data each month.  You don't get the introductory rate unless you leave and come back but I'm fine with that.

Weird that the MSE plans don't seem to work for some reason.
  • Just to confirm. Tried it today and MSE to MSE still didn’t work but MSE to USwitch did. Be interesting to see if USwitch to MSE would work in the future.
