Lebara switching Sim only plan - Deals only available to new customers
With Lebara (not for much longer!) and needed more data pm so looked on a price comparison site - Lebara was the competitive and as I was already with them gave them a call. Operative was very apologetic but apparently they cannot give any deals to existing customers, and if you order a Sim from the price comparison site they will not transfer your number over as you are an existing customer. The standard prices for their existing customers are about 40% higher so I have chosen to move to ID Mobile.
I find this all very short sighted. The point of promotions should be to gain customers not loose them! Has anyone had experience of other companies doing this as transferring is just hassle.

Sign up as a new customer for a Lebara SIM (using a new email address, the rest of your personal details can be the same) for the new deal. You can port your existing number in a bit of a long winded process by porting out to another provider (order a free PAYG SIM from whoever you want), and then port it back to Lebara.
I agree it's a bit silly to not offer these deals to existing customers, but I guess once they've gotten you through the door the first time there's little incentive for them to try and keep you since they've already made their money.6 -
Could do but hassle. Also not going to reward any company that is anti its own customers. I get the 'half price for 3 months' promos but what they are doing is having duel pricing systems which existing customers are excluded from.PRAISETHESUN said:Sign up as a new customer for a Lebara SIM (using a new email address, the rest of your personal details can be the same) for the new deal. It's pretty much a mature market and the providers seem to hope you'll just stay with them after any promotions. I've seen it with 3 also with their '6 months half price deals' etc - wouldn't surprise me if others do the same. It's so easy to switch nowadays, it's not often worth the bother trying to contact your existing provider (IMHO). I can only get a good signal from Vodafone, so Lebara have been great for me2

Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!7

So I have moved away and had a leaving balance of £11.29. The call centre offered to refund £11. When I asked about the 29p (not that I am bothered) she said it was because I had paid in in whole pounds. I pointed out it was kind of illegal to go against your own terms and conditions and miraculously the whole amount suddenly became available.
Bit shady.Edible geranium0 -

Bit shady. Most networks don’t refund PAYG balances when you leave.Lebara are pretty good in the fact they offer the refund at all.====7 -
How does this work? Do you buy a new plan and cancel the old one?jnm21 said:Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning. Albert Einstein0 -
What we did was turn off Auto Renew on the existing plan and let it run out and then logged onto the account, put in the URL that jnm21 provided, which then opened up USwitch Exclusive tariffs (but still showed that you are logged into your account), selected a new plan, It then gives you option to apply to existing SIM or to a new one so we selected Existing and proceeded to checkout. The new plan will show in the account after a hour or so (maybe quicker) and you can then turn Auto Renew on the new plan.HonestJohn said:
