You don't even need to do that all - just buy the new plan (I believe it has to be before 9pm on the last day of the previous plan) & it will automatically turn off the auto renewal on the old plan.

By Al means turn it off manually to be sure.
Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!
  • Just used this method - it took 2 mins.

    Gone from £5 for 1Gb / unlimited mins / texts to £4.90 for 3Gb / unlimited mins / texts!

    Thanks all!!!!!

I have just switched Lebara plans using this method. I cancelled the auto renew about half way through the month. On the last day of the current contract I picked my new plan. Saved 10p and got I extra GB of data.

  • I noticed that through that link some of the plans don't mention a text allowance in the plan description when you get to the basket, do you just get unlimited texts as standard or are texts really not part of the plans?

They are, just check the plan details and it will show also national texts. Some of the options don't mention until you read the small print.

Just to clarify: best to wait to the last day of the old plan before doing this. If you do it half-way during the month, you end up with an overlap period - in effect paying for some of the old tariff that you are not using.

So I moved from £7.99 / 8Gb to £6.90 / 10Gb but did it while I had 18 days left on the £7.99 plan (my own fault  - got mixed up with dates), so I am paying £4.79 (18/30) for the 18-day overlap. I am saving £1.09 a month though so will be quids in after just over 4 months. And I've have an extra 2Gb.

But many thanks for the link - I will keep reviewing usage and tariffs to see if I can save more.
  • I have just switched Lebara plan this morning. I cancelled the auto renew today, last day of the contract and ordered a new Lebara sim , will I be able to use my existing Lebara number on the new sim?

    Thanks for any replies
  • That sounds wrong to me, why would you need a new sim? Have you read the advice in the previous posts above?
  • Yes I have read previous posts . I was trying to get a cheaper plan than the one I have been on .
Seems I hadn’t read the previous posts properly! Anyway it’s sorted now I just added the link given for Uswitch while logged into my email account , as suggested in previous posts , and it worked a treat .
    Thanks for your reply !
