Yeah. It was all a bit much to hear it in black and white. It isn't impossible, especially since it seems I am paying an insane amount into my pension. Just need to get on with saving more as a goal rather than an afterthought. I get what you are saying re home ownership but it has been a dream of mine for so long, not quite ready to give it up. Just really have to think about me rather than everyone else. Which is what all my friends (you guys included) are always saying but hearing it from a stranger today was surreal.

Well,
The finance guy thought I would have a good pension, but I don't. I am hoping something is wrong somewhere..... but I doubt it. It is no surprise that I am not well set up for my future, I am here after all! It is also that no one has ever looked at my pay or pension or whatever - never having a mortgage or a car loan etc, no partner to look at stuff.
I am a complete misery guts tonight.

Ok, in an attempt to feel like I have some sort of control I have,
1. Requested my tax rebate of 63 quid
2. Paid the CC
3. Done all my chores early so am good to sit here for a bit.
4. Moved some money around, I won't have much this month if get the vet bill. I haven't got it yet, I rung up and she found the bill but needed it to be signed off..... She was meant to ring back but never did.
In a way it is good to know from an outside source that I need to make some changes. It isn't just my friends being nice to me.
xxx

More hugs Buffster. Knowledge is power.Re pension, have you got a proper forecast of your benefits? It isn't as straightforward as how much is in your pot, especially if you have a final salary or last-ten-years-average type scheme. If not, I'd email them and ask for an up to date benefits statement so you know where you are. You will absolutely not be alone in not having really looked at it - not everybody has had good options and it's really hard to make the decision to pay into one when you're already struggling. (And I'm not convinced partners are always helpful with such things - less hassle when you get to make all the decisions yourself!)Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

Good moves today Bufster. I only started my pension in 2016 so am a bit worried like you. I used to have my flat as my "back up" but obviously sold that so no longer do. Did he go through with you the type of lifestyle you'd like on retirement and then how much of a pot you'll need? I know the DM is the sin of all sins but there was a relatively helpful article on this in there this week.2

Been up since 5.30, delivery window opened at 7am, one thing came at 10.30, the other at 4 pm. In the meanwhile I did the extension for the small evil bun. I hoped I would get her out there tonight, but it wasn't to be. The roof nearly killed me, genuinely would have died or had life changing injuries if I had fallen in the pond, but instead scrapped my leg down the rapidly collapsing ladder (shagging thing is USELESS!) whilst clinging to the side of the aviary. I am quite pleased with what I have done but so gutted she isn't outside. It is so late in the year to put her outside but I cannot bear the thought of her indoors all winter. It is too hot in this house and bless her she is miserable. And I am miserable. I was not cut out for house rabbits. I love the out door buns. They get to be themselves. She doesn't.
She will go out tomorrow, the aviary is covered in plastic sheeting so even tho it is raining she won't be wet or in a draft. She had a hutch full of straw and a tunnel and a bench thing to sit on. She will also have a heat pad. I just need the hinges for the door to arrive................
So tired, but cooked steak jacket potato and corn on the cob, it was amazing.
need to do a 20 minute walk and then my evening jobs.
My special friend has been really kind today. Long term I may miserable but he did perk me up today,
