We use ours to control smart plugs which control outside lights and plugs (so we can just turn everything off with one phrase rather than walk around finding different sockets), the heating (via a nest system), for turning the car charger on and off when the sun is hitting the solar panels, podcasts, radio, timers, reminders and best of all if DH is in his workshop (the garage) and he has a fall (he's not great mobility wise) he can use it to "broadcast" a message into the one in the house to call me for help....very handy. Although the requests for coffee can get a bit annoying.

Going back to the "broken the back of it" comment, I'd see that nothing other than a compliment.  Means you're getting somewhere with it, she's noticed.  That's a good thing.

And as for the lock,  you'll find that most people (especially the older generation) expect a work man to leave the place clean and tidy and take away the old parts.  Depending on the condition on the lock he may be able to use it in another job if he can get replacement parts for it but you'll find most tradespeople Chuck these things in the back of the van and forget about them for years and then they get scrapped.  As others have said, if you're happy with the work he's done then move past it and know your house is secure and you can feel safe.

It suddenly struck me after you saying about another upset tummy/feeling poorly that it's quite common with you, have you seen a link to any fatty foods that could be a trigger, could be gallstones starting to play up.  Mine flared for years before I worked out what it was.

This will sound a silly question, but what do you use the Alexa for?  I kind of understand they exist, but couldn't really see how it would save me doing anything but writing a shopping list and presumably there is more to it than that!
I listen to music, audible books, the news, the radio, I ask a lot of questions (mostly converting measurements and weights) I set reminders to take pills, feed the animals, do timers for cooking, exercise, meditation (tho not recently). "she" has free content - white noise stuff I listen to sometimes. I listen to podcasts, am a big fan of BBC sounds. I also ask about the weather (!) I really just like the company/noise. I don't do well in silence.

    XX
It also plays fart noises! We found that out by accident x

    Thanks both :D
I am quite happy in silence and use my mobile for Audible and timers so that probably explains why I haven't joined the revolution.
And I have a dog for the other purpose!

I love the BBC Sounds app. I have 2 Alexas I rarely plug in, should make more use of them really.

  • I ordered the expensive one. A whole 3 pounds more expensive but once MSE always MSE so it felt like I was throwing caution to the wind!!

Realised I have paid for Disney plus for another year. I wasn't going to but I had it in my head it was May I had to cancel, but to be fair I LOVE Disney. So am not massively upset!

Does put the CC bill up.

My one day out in the holidays has been cancelled. I am considering doing a SA and going anyhow as I do need new clothes.... BUT I also need my room seriously sorting. The conservatory being better is amazing. But it has meant other rooms have extras. I have a slightly crackers plan relating to being a minimalist of really getting rid of things.

Am watching Trigger Point - bit behind, had it on planner for ages. Really good.

Oh in Rabbit news I am meant to taking them all to the vets tomorrow. Actually dreading it. I can't get near smallest bun. I think she might have to be an indoor bun really as she is not doing well outside, the others don't like her now, the big girl really went for her this morning. Just don't know how to figure out how.... I can't catch her, she is so quick. Tho I will have to some how. I could in theory shut her in the big hutch. Not great but has to be better than being chased all the time.

I might try and do that tonight.
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Jellytots, I do wonder about the gall bladder thing - Mum had it, my best friend had it, my diet now I have been eating full time with Mum for about 4 ish years is dreadful.

But looking at the symptoms and comparing it to friends, I don't have that sort of pain, it is all lower tummy, I think it is the sneaky Baileys unfortunately. But I will ask my mate more questions about how hers started, I would ask mum but she gets all Victorian about it. xxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

A sneaky Baileys shouldn’t be giving you problems. Is it time for a chat to a doctor?

It doesn't sound like it but could it possibly be cheese?  Or something that is giving you wind & yes you can get wind really low down.
