I fill in all Mr SA’s forms for him, he wouldn’t have a clue where to start. I’m classed as his “responsible person”. His wheelchair came from Red Cross, they will loan you whatever you need then take it back when no longer required. They also fitted extra handrails on the stairs when he first came out of hospital.

And she won't use it if it is too long in the leg as it will make her back ache, which wouldn't be helpful.  I am a great believer in everyone having a POA.  I have one, well 2 actually, both financial & health.  Martin has had one for years.

DH was referred to the wheelchair service and they were fantastic, measured for one to start with ,then supplied with an electric one which was further adapted when needed

.when that was no longer viable ( he had a progressive neuro degenerative disease ) it was replaced with a tilting one so I could change his position and preserve his skin .

Another one who says you should be able to get a wheelchair, mum's was via the NHS and on loan.

I don't know the exact circumstances but  be aware it's likely if the LA is paying for the stair lift they are likely to put a financial charge on the property - registered at local land charges not on the title iyswim.
  • I will investigate the wheelchair situation, my sister thought they would have given her one in her her assessment that got her the stair lift. When Dad had a stair lift they as in my parents paid some money towards it, there was no charge on the house, I don't know why it would have changed or why no one seems to have mentioned the cost to mum. I will ring some people tomorrow, I think I have a number for the woman who did the assessment. I also have to try and ring the hospital.

It was good to see my friends today. I had a little wander round the shops - not exciting, but still nice. Then I came home and I think something disagreed with me as I haven't felt well since. I had Fish fingers for dinner, couldn't face anything else. I wonder if what ever was wrong last week is hanging about.

Piggie is so far ok, got to take her back in a week. That is a big relief, tho I am not convinced she is ok. But she is ok according to the vet.

    Nevertheless she persisted.

Does she have a rheumatology consultant at the hospital.?
they should involve the specialist nurse ,who can refer to  physio,OT and wheelchair services .
Aphone call to the consultant’s secretary should get the ball rolling .There is a lot of support out there but you have to ask initially

  • What a day.

The storm was/is terrifying, I had to bring the rabbits inside. Which meant them going into my room!!! Made the rash decision to bond the rabbits. I figured they were stressed anyway may as well give it ago. I sat for 8 hours and it was extremely tense. My three are mostly ok, the foster buns are stand offish but ok. They are staying in over night and I am sorting the aviary tomorrow so they can have part of the space and then I can spend next weekend making the rest of the space neutral...

I wish I could have done this early in the week but it is quite a relief to have it done. Everything else went out of the window. I feel bad but this needed doing and the storm was the perfect opportunity.
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Bunny bonding seems ok. They are spending another night inside as I am worried about the foster bunnies. They are not mixing, they are only tolerating, I have only seen a few problems and it is mainly nerves not aggression . My original 2 are so lovely, it is actually been nice to "see" them.

I went to the tip today, did two runs, in the pouring rain and have almost done all my washing. Got to mark exams (!) and make dinner - pasta and cheese sauce!
