I have been listening to Dana K White's book on decluttering, she is really good. She said something about redecluttering she said every time you redeclutter you might get a little fed up or anxious or can't face it but explained that you will need to curate your possessions for the different seasons, and for different stages of your life. I am afraid I was one of those people who thought it would be "done" (Marie Kondo seems to think this to a degree) but really I am realising I need to keep going over it, not constantly but more/again as things have changed. The first time many years when I did this I moved a lot of stuff to the shed, to "save" it for when I moved out, over the years I have got rid of loads and loads but also acquired other things and got less room due to having the animals indoors at various points. I now push to be a minimalist, clothes wise I am doing well but I do want to own less, to give me more space and less to be responsible for. since taking over running the house I have realised most of my stress and upset comes from Mum's total lack of organisation in the house, it is truly awful and makes simple things very complicated. I hate all the unnecessary !!!!!!.
When people ask me why I am so obsessed with decluttering and tidying I normally just laugh but honestly I have no space, no sanctuary, I have tried and tried over the years but between furry animals and Mum it never lasts And yes I do need to keep at it. My room could be so lovely. Looking to the future my life is pretty bleak to be honest but it won't be made any better by living in a !!!!!! show. I will control the things I can control.
Therefore as well as the money plans I also be not just decluttering but working on being a minimalist (house plants and books not included) and living with as little impact as possible.Nevertheless she persisted.2 -
I always find that decluttering my room and space gives me sanctuary that I need. I love it once it is done xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x1 -
I heard about a service called "I collect clothes" yesterday, they collect all your decent charity shop stuff and pass it along to charities, might be worth a look?
We had to get rid of so much stuff when we downsized and that was hard...what was even harder was the fact that we didn't get rid of enough. Since we've been here it's started to build again, it's so easily done and then gets suffocating. We now have the issue of having to try and fit in toys for the little people in our life that come to visit. We've had to be ruthless and crafty with how we store things. Chests that double as coffee tables are a godsend.Hard though to deal with someone else's clutter and bad storage solutions. Just imagine how wonderful it will be when you have your own place and can have as many plants as you like! (Note I didn't say pets....no more pets!! )4 -
I agree things need to be reviewed for seasons and stages. I found it weirdly hard to let go of the furniture I had in my first flat, it kind of felt like that was a fallback if acting like a grown up with a house went wrong. But there's a lot of stuff I'm no longer sure is actually worth the storage space and caretaking.

I gave my mum a book on Swedish Death Cleaning for Christmas. It's not really about dying, but more about making sure that you pass things on to people who can use them, and don't clutter your life up with stuff that weighs you down.2

Sounds like a good day Buffy. A lovely lie in and some fresh air on such a lovely day (well it was lovely up here anyways).
You have a plan. I have done my budget and am photographing every till I go to for a spend diary - I just wasn't managing to get and keep receipts. Early days but fingers crossed for both of us...Not giving up

Use a sainsbury shopping bag (save brand jars etc and decant)Buffythedebtslayer said:
It can be one of my walks - it is only up the road. I live near about a million supermarkets. Am lucky, tho Mum will only use Sainsbugs, the most expensive!!beanielou said:Why dont you get a wee delivery from Iceland?
Only 2 Snowballs make a jug and have a straw. It reminds me I did not realise Baileys had alcohol in (just used to use as sauce on icecream as a treat.) A few years ago after volunteering at night very sad shift - I needed chocolate to chill so had a mug of Baileys! I slept well!

SO much. I put shoes in the shed after I broke my ankle, And yeah they are lovely but I don't need them. Or want them! I still can't wear heels so why are they sitting there!RosaBernicia said:I agree things need to be reviewed for seasons and stages. I would be disinherited! Nevertheless she persisted.1
