Totally agree you should feel proud of yourself (can also confirm that a peaceful day in your home doing what you want beats a day of stress and negativity with family hands down). Also agree with milann about starting with a flat. I sometimes think I should have done exactly that and built up savings, rather than going for more space that often isn't needed. A garden flat with a storage unit and a good sofabed would cover most of my needs.Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

Agree with everyone else, you should be proud of yourself. A flat also agreed on that one, would be easier to maintain. You’ve got some good plans in place, always love it when you come up with a new plan 😁 Good to hear you sounding so much more positive too.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

but I was looking at a one bedroom flat with a balcony and thinking ooo the rabbits(and guinea pigs) could have the bedroom and the dogs and I could have the rest! Mad I know but it would be what I needed and could manage, I wouldn't spend my free time cleaning!
I just LOVE the idea of minimalist living and folding up sofa beds and tables!! No carpet......book shelves. plants.Nevertheless she persisted.2 -
A flat with a balcony sounds fab.

You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x1 -
A flat to yourself would be ideal but I don't agree about sacrificing a bedroom for animals. A proper bed in a proper bedroom where you can relax and unwind is essential....and more importantly easier to entertain in (where's the winky smile when you want it)

Agree with Jellytot. You need a proper space to yourself - you don't have that at the moment.
Also most leases do not permit pets - some will allow one or maybe two but frequently with the freeholders or management companies consent.
You may find an older lease which is more generous or possibly one whereby you have say 2/3 flats in a block and a share of the freehold but I expect the latter to be more expensive.
I think you are London and I've seen lots of leases where a house has been converted into flats with some garden which however again I expect will be more expensive.
Sorry (again) to be the bearer of bad news but as your pets are important to you I can't see a flat working. Oh, and rabbits are classed as livestock bizarrely which means where you may be able to take the guinea pigs you won't be able to take the rabbiits.2 -
Oh well it was nice to dream.
I do realise that once mum goes were ever she goes next I will lose the animals. I just don't like admitting it.
Until today I figured it was because I wouldn't ever own my own place. Not because of the lease hold/freehold thing. Hey ho. You live and learn.

Today's list
1. Move the washing around. X2
2. Tip X 2
3. Rabbits cleaned out - big job!
4. Indoor animals - smaller job.
5. Hoover
6. Maybe sort out the remaining presents I need to give out.Nevertheless she persisted.3 -
Dinner is in the oven, I probably going to give us food poisoning, am never sure about reheating the meat or the stuffing....
Washing is drying, I need to empty the dishwasher and move the washing on.
Plans for a no spend January
Well the rules,
1. I am allowed to go out socially - please God it will remain legal. I miss my friends!
2. I can only buy food (not teats!) for the animals, hay/straw for the animals, Petrol and food like bread, milk, eggs, and bacon,
3. I expressly cannot buy - ready made lunches, house plants, clothes, toys for the animals, toiletries, books (!) Chocolate and crisps.
The aim - to pay off 500 pounds on the loan and save 500 to the house accounts.
Loan stands at 7900 and I will double check the savings.
I start my second job next month too so that will help.
The plan in February is to have a sell February to well......sell stuff! I have two fish tanks and about 3 cages and 4? Dog crates to sell. Plus a few smaller things, clothes, tights.
Then in March have an essential spends, things like clothes and shoes specifically. Look for gifts for my friends' birthdays. By March the rabbits will be bonded, so they might need something
The idea is by March I will have got rid of everything to charity/selling/regifting/recycling and will know what I need rather than spending money willy nilly.
And April be a no spend again.
Each month I will save 500 and pay 500 off the loan.Nevertheless she persisted.5
