I have looked back on this thread and could not see the following:-
Looking through the BPA site, this headline came upGovernment consultation response heralds the end of free parking for everyone
https://www.britishparking-media.co.uk/news/government-consultation-response-heralds-the-end-of-free-parking-for-everyone
This is a total misunderstanding of the great, savvy british public
The public are used to paying for parking in council car parks, I don't think anyone has ever asked for free parking. It was the parking industry who introduced this .... FREE parking with a time limit ?
With more and more supermarkets opening, especially from Aldi and Lidl and landlords suffering from closures, they will need to attract customers. There will be a new wave of free parking without parking companies involved as retailers/landlords atempt to compete with more and more competitors.
"Heralds the end to free parking" is probably the worst excuse ever to come out of the BPA
Covid has shown the public that there is another way to shop and many retailers have lost walk in customers forever and they will not get them back if faced with a £100 ticket
It is in the interests of the private parking industry to accept the new code of practice and appeals service because with their current practice they are driving people away3 -

Perhaps the words in bold should be adopted by the BPA in place of their current motto, Driving up standards.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks4 -
The supermarkets will want to attract people back into the stores. Many customers who have had their groceries etc. delivered during the lockdowns will continue to do so. It is much more costly to offer a home delivery service. There is also the opportunity to sell clothing etc when people visit the store.

Finally found time to complete the consultation and also written to MP. Have to say I went to town on the "debt admin" after having been worried it wouldn't come up. Only just got it all in the box!4

That was classed as mis-selling
What have DRP (and the other unregulated debt collectors) done ?
They have collected monies the law does not provide for in the parking industry. They have based
this mis-selling on the BPA code of practice which ignored the Supreme Court and is not legal
The IPC followed
Should DRP and the others worry ??? YES ...... WHY ? because it is gross misinterpretation designed to mislead the public into paying.
We already know of one "joker" involved with BPA who thinks adding fake amounts will increase profits ?
There will be a claim back. Once broken to the media it will not stop

Maybe starting in 2018 when the BPA code of practice said PPC's could add fake charges1
