Oh Maman, meant to say yes you do have to be a canny shopper in Company shop , but as we are good for us we know the prices!

Was it a big store and very busy?

I have not been for a few weeks
I'd say about Aldi/Lidl size, maybe a bit bigger. Not very busy so got my card immediately and stayed to look around.
My DD went the other day and got multi packs of small bottles of Evian for £1. She was delighted as that's her tipple of choice. Definitely not her mother's daughter! 🤣
    @ not her Mother's daughter 😂

Ours is not that big but a decent enough size

    Hiya everyone
Apologies for going AWOL. Loads going on!

I was half heartedly plodding along, losing the odd pound here and there but not really trying, then out of the blue two weeks ago I got diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.

This isn’t going to turn into a rant about how useless my GP’s surgery is, but they were absolutely confident that nothing I could do would lower my sugars.
They are now normal. Inside 2 weeks.

    What have I done differently?

Actually started eating (I hadn’t been eating because of my depression) and binned all the biscuits, chocolate etc.
I’ve lost 10.5lbs in 2 weeks (6.5 last week, 4 this week) I’ve cut right back on syns, and cut down on carbs.

I have a very big few weeks ahead!
Saturday I’m off to Manchester to Soccer Aid.
Wednesday I’m off to London. I have VIP red carpet tickets for the National Television Awards on Thursday. I’m very stressed about this as there is a dress code and it took me ages to find a dress. And I didn’t have ages! Then the shoes, bag and  wrap I bought to go with the dress didn’t go and I had to buy another bag and wrap. Now I’m starting to worry that the dress won’t fit.

I come back on Friday and then the following Monday I’m off on holiday to Somerset for a week.
The following Thursday I’m off to Birmingham to stay with my best friend for her birthday then straight up to Sunderland to go to the Rocky Horror Show with my sister.
This is going to be a very testing month!

    Yesterday’s food was:
B: 3 x turkey rashers, scrambled eggs and tomatoes
L: SW chicken Tikka lunch pot, mixed veg. Easy peeler
T: SW wild garlic burgers, couscous (0.5) mixed veg. 100g Frank’s diabetic friendly ice cream (8) with strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.
    Syns: 8.5

Ive got my delivery from West Coast foods Skinni range (low fat, low carb, low syn) coming today so I’m very much looking forward to that!

    Night night all xx

Welcome back @Mrs_Ryan.  Well one good thing to come out of your Dr's diagnosis is that it's got you back on track and losing weight!  We all know that SW can reverse diabetes; a friend of mine used to have to inject herself every day but after a while on SW she completely reversed that situation and no longer needed any medication at all.  Well done on getting back on track and losing an amazing amount of weight over the last couple of weeks!

You've got an extremely busy month coming up.  Just continue doing what you've been doing and you'll soon get back where you want to be.

Morning all.  Was up early this morning for some reason - tried to get back to sleep but it just didn't happen so been awake since about 5.30 and ended up getting up about 6; this is so not me!

I have my scan at 11 this morning but have to travel quite a way so will need to leave about 9.30 to make sure I get there on time.  DH is going to drive as I don't think my shoulder would thank me for a long drive - it's painful enough just driving locally!

    Today's plan:

    B - scrambled eggs & spinach on toast - HEB; P; S
    L - leek and potato soup - S; F
    D - LO pork, chips, beans - P F

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
    Syns - none planned

I know I'm a bit light on Speed today but will top it up with fruit and yoghurt this evening, as I do nearly every evening.

    Have a good day everyone.

  • Bubbs, you are an  o:)  :)

Good to see you back Mrs R, was actually thinking about you the other day as we had not seen you for a while. Fab news on diabetes reversal, at least you know that it is something within your control and can work with it. One of my cousins lost a lot of weight, put it down to the stress of organising her wedding. Was a work about 6 months before the wedding and a nurse there sent her straight to the doctor, who promptly sent her straight into hospital, where she was diagnosed with Type 1, leads a relatively normal life, just to jab test a few times a day, which is an incovenience, but has no choice..

Find out the damage on my weekend away this evening, hoping for less than 4 :#
A smile costs little but creates much :)

Morning all, my oh my you lot can fairly blether!  Great loss @Seasidegal58 and good to hear you're BIL is on the mend @bubbs. Still catching up so apologies if I've missed anyone.

Well DS still waiting on results but is rough as toast and lost taste and smell yesterday afternoon so think it's a foregone conclusion!  I'm still negative.   Yesterday's food plans went right out the window for lunch and dinner and although not too bad, I went over on bread and a few sneaky gins were consumed last night - medicinal purposes of course

So going to keep it simple today -
    B - yoghurt and fruit
L -  mushroom soup (if I can find it in the freezer)
D - baked potato with chilli, salad

    Have a good day all!

Morning all.  Well done on the loss @Seasidegal58, as bubbs said, a loss is a loss!  Good to see you back @Mrs_Ryan and congratulations on reversing your blood sugar levels so quickly!  Sounds like a busy but fun few weeks coming up for you - take each meal at a time and make the best decision you can based on what's available to you.

Have a half day at work today because I'm going to a wedding this afternoon.  It's only 10 minutes from my house, hence not taking the whole day off.  DH is staying at home as he has an interview tomorrow and wants to finish prepping for it.  Luckily I'm going with 3 other friends so I won't be sitting on my own all evening 😂  They aren't having a full on wedding breakfast, just going into a buffet as the wedding isn't till 3pm so I'm filling up at lunch time so I'm not that tempted by the naughty things on the buffet table (plus, you know, not sure a buffet is the right option in a pandemic world so want to keep as safe as I can).  Had usual ff yogurt, blueberries and granola for breakfast and then lunch is going to be mac and cheese with leeks and mushrooms added in to fill me up.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Hi all, I'm back again.  Just finished our lunch of leek and potato soup and there is plenty left for another day so I have boxed that up and popped into the freezer.

Had my scan at 11 this morning and it's no wonder I'm in pain I've got a torn tendon!  He said he'll get the report to my GP within a week which works really well as I have a telephone appointment for next Thursday about 11.25 about my blood test results - obviously nothing too worrying as the appointment is more than 2 weeks after he got the results!  So at least I can speak to him about my scan too.

The guy that done the scan said that there are lots of treatments available and it will be up to my GP what he thinks is he best option.  Having said that the pain killers and physio exercises are certainly helping with the pain and movement.  The biggest problem is things like being unable to do up my bra at the back and tucking in my T-shirt as it hurts to put my arm behind my back.
