I'm another that's happy to take the scenic route. I did focus hard for the first year but even then I went off plan for holidays. Now I'm happy to plod along. 😊
I thought of you today @joedenise. We walked the last part of the Itchen Way (13.5K steps! 😇) and noticed that Winchester College had about 50 motor homes on their cricket field. They must need the money! 🤣
Funnily enough, braised red cabbage is the one thing I don't do in my SC. I love it for batch cooking Bolognese, chilli and savoury mince though. It's so easy to just throw everything in and forget about it. If mine died, I'd definitely replace it.0 -
maman We don't have things like chilli and bolognaise very often. I usually just cook enough for 2 meals when we do.
How do you do your braised red cabbage if you don't do it in the SC? Red cabbages are usually pretty big so definitely need something pretty big to cook it in!
I suspect it was some sort of rally at Winchester College. We often rally at places like schools, Rugby Clubs and Cricket Clubs. It definitely brings in extra money for them. We're probably going to go to Canterbury Park & Ride this weekend and then getting buses each day to different places. Will need to get the motorhome sorted out tomorrow as not even remade the bed yet and hoping to go to WI Friday morning and then off to Canterbury by lunchtime.

I have a huge enamel casserole dish that will take the braised red cabbage. I always do it in a slow oven following Delia's recipe (with a few tweaks to make it SW friendly of course 😊).
We're all different I suppose. I find chilli, savoury mince and Bolognese so versatile. I freeze it in portions and then make up dishes when I need them like lasagne or cottage pie. I've taken to freezing chilli in single portions as I often have a JP for my lunch or double up for dinner with DH with rice or chips or both. 🤣0 -
Great bargains gtq & enjoy your break
I only use my SC in winter DEnise.

Thanks maman. I've got a big enamel casserole dish, also got an absolutely huge cast iron one which I have to get DH to get out of the cupboard before I can use it and then put it into and get it out of the oven. It's too heavy for me to lift even when it's empty!
Have to admit beanie I've never cooked beef olives! Think I've only ever had it once and that was when my friend in Germany cooked them. Have to agree was very nice.
Today's plan:
B - overnight oats - HEB; S; F
L - stuffed mushroom, salad - S; F; HEA2
D - pork chop, mash & veg - P; S; F
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese
HEB - oats
Syns - 0
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all,
I binned the slow cooker when I moved house, the only thing I was using it for was hunks of meat like a bit of gammon and I do it so rarely it was just taking extra room. I have been tempted recently by an air fryer or a ninja but they take up so much room. I like the kitchen to be minimal looking
Spin was fab last night im tired today, im going again tonight for my sins!
B – fruit and fibre ss milk
L – pot pasta ( on the move today so quick and easy)
D – PON dirty rice
There will be snack involved but il try and be healthy – there is a big gap between lunch and dinner today

Morning everyone, @maman I find the branded Skinny syrup too expensive so use an alternative, Splendid I think the brand is for £1 (I forgot to check before coming upstairs
). Scanning the barcode it's 0.5 syn per tbsp. I use toffee caramel flavour but they do loads of others.
@joedenise I use my slow cooker a lot as I too batch cook, chilli, bolognaise, stews and casseroles and have only just started doing joints of meat though not tried chicken yet. I was given an airfryer as a present and it's sat on my kitchen table for the last 6 six weeks as I've no cupboard space, it's huge! (and I've only used it once).
Today's plan -
B - ff Greek yoghurt and mango
L - ham, boiled eggs, huge salad
D - fish goujons, hm SW wedges, peas, sweetcorn, carrots
HEXA1 - milk for coffee
HEXB - none planned
Syns - goujons (7.5 for half a pack! need head in hands emoji here but again using stuff up), salad cream 1.5, possibly another 2 for tartare sauce
Have a good day all0 -
Morning all. I love my slow cooker so would definitely replace if it broke, but can understand why you don't need to @joedenise
Was going to go for a run this morning but couldn't find my house keys (turns out DH moved them 🙄) so just did a lower body workout instead. Walking up the stairs has been fun ever since 😆 Followed it up with usual ff yogurt, blueberries and granola, lunch is another tuna salad today and dinner is a chicken and leek risotto.
