Quick update before bed. I went to my new SW meeting tonight and it seems like a nice group, the consultant is lovely. I bought a six week countdown and I have 16.5 lbs to lose to get back to my goal. I'm feeling very motivated now 😀

Glad your new group is nice OBL.  Did you get the Happy Days book when you bought your Countdown?  Apparently it has been extended for an extra week so you should have done.  You should be able to make some leeway with your weight loss during your Countdown period.  Hopefully it won't take you too long to get back to target.

Had a terrible night's sleep last night - only sleeping an hour at a time!  By 5am I gave up and got up.  Weather isn't too good this morning so glad I got the washing done yesterday - I decided to finish it all rather than leaving it after seeing today's forecast!  Even washed 2 pairs of curtains which I needed to take down as we are having new windows fitted today.  Will need to take the curtains down in our bedroom if they get round to those windows today.  Not sure which windows they're planning on doing today - I'm hoping they can manage to get them all done today rather than having to make sure I'm up early again tomorrow!

Need to keep the syns low as definitely running out!  Only 7.5 syns left to last until WI on Friday!  So today's plan is syn free:

    B - scrambled eggs and spinach on toast - HEB; P; S
    L - roasted stuffed peppers - HEA2; S; F
    D - vegetable biryani - S; F

    HEA1 - milk
    HEA2 - mozarella
    HEB - bread
    Syns - none planned

    Have a good day everyone.

    Good morning all,

Looks like its turning into a nice day, @joedenise I had the washing on the line by 7am

@poppet44 … I prefer calorie counting, some of the slimming world meals are pretty calorific yet free… don’t slate me I just don’t think that SW is a good long term successful weight loss plan, I don’t want to be saying in a few years’ time I’m still on slimming world, for me it is a lifestyle change, that SW helped kick off. I will still continue to use some slimming world recipes and ideas, but purely because I like them. I think the flaw with SW is free foods. The basics to weight loss is calories in versus calories out. You wont lose weight if you are not in a calorie deficit. It’s a proven fact.

    Todays meal plan

B – fruit and fibre ss milk

L – HM lentil soup and chicken tikka pieces.

D – ping meal night – corned beef hash 321kcals – spinning night

Morning all!  I feel your pain milann - been on antibiotics twice for insect bites in the last couple of months and got bitten again yesterday!  In the exact same place on my leg as the other two times!  I've even been covering myself with insect repellent every time I leave the house and it still isn't working apparently.  It isn't too bad at the moment after some antihistamine and keeping it elevated but we'll wait and see.

Did an upper body work out this morning and now feeling quite tired so will have to go and have a coffee soon!  Had ff yogurt, strawberries and granola for breakfast, lunch is going to be ham salad and then dinner will veggie black bean noodles.

Hope everyone has a good day!

SW works even with the free foods if you stick to the rules which are to eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full. I'm only 5 ft tall so probably take less to fill than taller people. The SW lasagne from Iceland actually does me for two meals. I prefer to make my own because I'm not keen on ready meals but their dhal was the same. I used it as a curry substitute, ate it with rice and each ready meal tub lasted me for two nights.

If I didn't eat my dinner when I was a child I was encouraged to finish my meal ("starving children in Africa would be glad of that" anyone?) My body is conditioned to carry on when I'm full and I can eat until it hurts if it's something that I really like so I do have to be careful around free foods. It's not entirely to blame for my weight problems as I had PCOS too but there's definitely an issue there. I've never said "just a few more spoonfuls" or "just a couple more bites" to my son while he was growing up and I think that he has far better awareness of when he's had enough food than I do.

In other news I had melon, pineapple and strawberries for dinner last night because they were already chopped up in tubs in the fridge and I couldn't summon up the energy or enthusiasm to cook once I'd finished work. I'm tired today as I went to bed at midnight then woke up at 4am for some reason and was awake for ages so I'm not expecting much different today.

Yes, @CRANKY40, I remember thinking when they first introduced SW ready meals to Iceland that they were a strange size. I've only ever had one curry and shared it with DH by just adding a bit of extra veg and rice. I suppose they must get sufficient sales for them but I've always thought they were expensive compared with WW. I used to buy DH a WW fish pie for around £1 as it had more fish than most and I don't like them.

I'm sure I read there are more horseflies around this year because of the prolonged warm weather. Is that what's biting you?

It's muggy here bit not much sun. Maybe that's what's keeping you both awake? 🤔 I suppose it's swings and roundabouts @joedenise with the new Friday WI day. You have longer to rein back after the weekend but the few syns you have left have to stretch further! 🤣

So please that you liked your group @Onebrokelady. It makes all the difference.

    Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit squash, banana, skinny syrup (F), HEB porridge, HEA milk, raspberries (S)
    L- ham (P), bubble & squeak (F,S), beetroot (S)
D- chicken casserole (P,S,) with new potatoes (F) and green stuff (S)
    Syns- cornflour 1

Hello, please may I join you again

I used to post here a couple of years ago ,but my husband was very ill and it all got too much .
Sadly after a terrible time he died 13 weeks ago and I am trying to get used to being alone .

I rejoined SW 6 weeks ago and have lost 81/2 lbs ( had already lost a little ) .I ,too find I need to watch portion sizes ,certainly identify with you and the starving children Cranky, though in my day ( I’m 72) it was the refugees!,
One thing I have noticed ,is that whilst talking to members saying they need to increase speed , my consultant has twice said that if you increases speed you need to reduce something else eithe free food or sins , or your portions will be too much ,( she even said the c word !)

not sure if that is official policy ,she is very experienced, was aware of what was happening and even though I wasn’t a member ,sent me supportive texts regularly whilst I was away

Not sure what’s bitten me Maman - I didn’t see or feel t at the time. But it got me 3 times  the worse being my ankle. The whole of the top of my foot and half way up my shin are my ankle have ballooned. It’s not as red and angry today.
It’s  been an emotional day today. - last day of term and it feels strange not being there for 2 girls with special needs I’ve supported since they were in year 1 and are moving on to secondary school. I’ve just taken a card to school for them both but with COVID restrictions couldn’t go in to give it to them…..which was sad for me but probably best for them. I came home and have had extra bread and the fridge keeps calling me. So far I’ve resisted and I’ve brought the fruit bowl next to me.
My 1 st weigh in at the new group tomorrow but I’m not confident of a loss as there is so much swelling around my leg. I’ve stayed on plan over the week so will see what happens. Hopefully if not tomorrow it’ll show next week when my leg should be back to normal…..I’ll hang on to that thought 🤞 I should pick the free happy days book up tomorrow 😃
    Today
breakfast hea  toast, chocolate spread and strawberries 4 syns
dinner ham sandwich - 12 syns
tea - actifry chips, cheese and onion ( I’m making a pie for ds so will measure my cheese and put with onions, no pastry ) baked beans
I think I like Slimming World because there’s very little counting involved. Couldn’t calorie count to save my life. It does work - it’s just a matter of staying on track……

milan rather than making something different for your DS why not make a SW friendly homity pie?  Recipe on the SW website.   You could both eat the same then.

I really must take my own advice and add it to my menu plan at some time😊!

I'm another who couldn't be bothered with calorie counting.  I certainly wouldn't still be eating as healthily as I do now.
