I think food is easier now it’s just me ( it’s the only thing that is )
When my daughter died 10 years ago and her DH was useless .Her children lived with us for nearly two years and I gained a lot -I’m a comfort eater .
This time I’m only buying what’s good as I know I can’t just eat two squares of chocolate ( or whatever) a day .Once something is open it waves to me until it’s gone
During the last awful months I was buying treats for DH ,but he had great difficulty in eating so I was eating the vast majority ( comfort again) I also baked cakes for the carers,he would manage a cube but I’d be eating a lot .
    that’s stopped now

It's obvious that we all have our different ways of fitting SW around how we like to live rather than following to the letter. I'm a fan of that but we'd never appear in any of the magazine features! 🤣

I always freeze any batch cooking @Onebrokelady but many of my lunches are leftovers from dinners the night before. I've never really got used to cooking for 2 instead of four. Usually I do a recipe for 4 but with meat for 2 so I am mse.

Welcome back Suffolksue.  My condolences for your loss.  Well done on your losses so far.  It definitely makes things easier if you don't buy treats any more - my DH eats crisps but I'm not bothered by them so don't eat them.  Biscuits I refuse to buy anything other than the small packs of Lotus biscuits but again I'm not that bothered by them so they just sit in the cupboard until I fancy one or two (there are only 2 in the pack so if I only want one DH has the other one along with his own packet of 2!).

milann I can understand why you've decided to do as you're doing for dinner tonight.  What a shame you'd already used your HEB a "pasty" would have meant you would have had at least similar to your DS.

I'm another who tends to cook for 4 and then freezes the LOs, however I usually add extra veg and quite often beans of some sort to stretch meals to 6 portions so cook once and eat 3 times.  My DH isn't keen on eating the same thing 2 days running - he's always said we had enough of that when we first got married because we didn't have a freezer!  Now we have we make use of it.  It's a real bonus for us really as we are 8 miles from the nearest SM and nearly 15 miles to my preferred SMs!

I realised after I posted this morning that my menu plan is a GREEN day so if I fancy some crispbreads later I can have them as my 2nd HEA.  Will have with HM hummus so still syn free!

Condolences from me too Suffolk Sue. I’m not surprised you had a weight gain during the sad times you’ve had. Good Luck with your SW journey 👍
I so get the cooking for 4 instead of 2 and then when we have family around I think I cook for 20 instead of 7 😳😂

That was a shame bubbs.  We all know how much you enjoy your fruit and ice cream!  We had the last of the strawberries last night with some yoghurt and very nice it was too.  Sometimes I wish I kept the ice cream maker bowl in the freezer but we don't often eat it.

It's been raining overnight but currently dry and looks like it's trying to brighten up.  Having said that the forecast is for more showers around lunchtime.  Was going to do some washing but that can wait until tomorrow as the forecast looks better.  Will probably do the washing this afternoon and then DH can hang it on the line before he goes to play golf.

We were supposed to be going shopping tomorrow so that I can do some batch cooking while he's playing golf on Friday but he's decided he's playing tomorrow instead of Friday so that when he plays Saturday he won't be so tired!  He seems to spend more time at the golf course than at home these days!

    Today's plan:

    B - breakfast hash topped with fried eggs - P; S; F
    L - sausage and onion sandwich - HEB; S; 4
    D - sweet and sour pork; noodles - P; S; F

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
Syns - low fat sausages 2; Lurpak lightest 2

Seem to be managing to keep within syns, even with only having a few left until Friday!  Need to have another count up to see how many I'll have left for tomorrow but don't expect it to be many - if any!

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning all, just popping in quickly with today's meal plan, so a speedy welcome to the new members of the thread.

Breakfast was usual ff yogurt, strawberries and granola, lunch will be a mackerel salad (one of those tinned fillets in tomato sauce) and then dinner is chilli stuffed peppers with something, maybe just a salad really but will let DH decide.

Hope you all have a good day!
