  • Hi. I have just joined and after some advice from anyone who has done  calorie counting and slimming world (not at the same time) I have a hip operation in two weeks. Obviously I won’t lose a lot before then but any loss will help . Did you find you lost more on calorie counting or slimming world the first few weeks.
    Thank you

Slimming World is not a quick fix but I don't think calorie counting will help you lose weight in a couple of weeks either!

If you want a quick fix then something like the SlimFast is probably the way to go where you replace 2 meals with the shakes and then have a low calorie meal.  I certainly couldn't survive with it but you might be able to.

Slimming World is a healthy eating plan rather than a diet.

    Afternoon all,

Joedenise it is the Morrisons own, big box for £1.29

Nightmare sleep wise this weekend, Saturday night awoken by the smoke alarm low battery, you could hear it outside the house it was that loud, the dog HATES it, ended up having to take him out to calm him down, depositing in the car and taking him for a drive up the road to stop him barking whilst I got the stepladder out the shed and the battery out

Then yesterday a group of us went to the beach and poor superpooch was having the time of his life with his pooch friends and has swallowed too much sand as a consequence and has a poorly tummy so was up with him last night. A very quiet night is on the cards!

Made lentil soup for lunches and tuna salad tonight, I can tell you that some Cadbury caramel nibbles have been eaten and I will probably polish the bag off tonight, no will power when tired!

B – fruit and fibre ss milk

L – lentil soup, chicken and space raiders

D – tuna salad with all the trimmings.

Didn’t weigh in this weekend as I was away super early to the city for a car service.

Have you been exercising more than usual @bubbs? Did you maybe walk a lot more on your holidays?

I'm a grazer. It's taken me until now to finish my overnight oats. I had some for breakfast, some with my mid morning cuppa and I've just had the rest of it now. I had pate on cucumber slices with tomatoes for lunch with babybel light as my second HeA.

I don't exercise , never have, always on my feet do about 8-12k steps a day, we perhaps did 15k a day on holiday, did 18 Saturday, but a weeks holiday does not explain the last  6 or so.

Poppet i have never CC and not starting now 😂 i lost 13lb in my first 2 weeks on SW but i did have a lot t lose, 3 stone in 3 months, how much do you want to lose?

Hello @poppet44. It varies but often people get good losses when they start SW. I lost 9lbs over my first three weeks and then it settled to a more steady 1.5lbs. I think it was the change to the SW healthy eating plan compared to what I was eating before. But that's probably true of any change for the better, including calorie counting.

I think the difference is that SW is a healthy way of eating long term compared with diets that offer a quick fix but you regain the weight if you get back to eating in the way you did before.

SW is based on calories but without the counting by eating loads of fruit and vegetables and lean protein and plain carbs. @klew356 is doing a mix of SW and calorie counting and that seems to work. The problem with just calorie counting is that you could eat junk food as long as you keep the calories low but then you'd probably feel hungry and give up PDQ.

Good luck, whatever you decide and do come back if you decide on SW. ☺️

That looks wonderful @bubbs. Just like from a high end ice cream parlour. 😋
