I don’t think they want to specifically count calories, just to be aware that everything has calories and you really can’t expect to eat 3,000 worth in a day and lose wight !
I first followed SW in 1996 ,anyone else remember Red and Green days ?
I remember being told I could eat a whole chicken if I was hungry and even then thinking that didn’t sound right ,
I do think portion size is important0 -
Morning all
No rain here yet but it was forecast to be torrential.
Mrs R glad you had a nice holiday.
Regarding calories, Denise same as you that's why i joined SW , i can eat as we know 😂 but i would never eat a whole chicken, what i eat most of is speed which is the lower calorie things , anyway started SAS log, shows up straight away i never had hexb yesterday so will try and have that today, i could have had it last night for "supper" but no need when i am not hungry!
Tea is roast chicken and veg, yorkies 2 syns , gravy 4 syns, stuffing 2 syns,
I would normally have egg wraps but may have those mini sub rolls but did feel bloated yesterday morning after i had had them Friday 🤔Sealed pot challenge number 003 £350 for 2015, 2016 £400 Actual£345, £400 for 2017 Actual £500:T:T £770 for 2018 £1295 for 2019:j:j spc number 22 £1,457Stopped Smoking 22/01/15:D:D::dance::dance:- 5 st 1 1/2lb :dance::dance:0 -
I agree with @Suffolksue, I really don't think counting calories is what SW are about. I think they're just raising it to encourage people towards the lean protein and Speed which is the lower calorie option anyway. They acknowledged that you should get better weightloss with SP anyway and I'm pleased I don't hear 'fill your boots' any more. IIRC 25 calories is about 1 syn as a rule of thumb. In any event, counting calories without healthy eating allows you to potentially eat a load of carp so I wouldn't be doing that.
I started SW in October 2010. The ladies taking the money and with the scales were fascinated by my book at last WI which is the original with Red and Green Days in it. The back pages have lasted well but that's because since I got to target in August 2011, I only go to WI about 6 or 7 times a year.
Last night's meal was as I expected. We had chicken with a range of salads. All the salads had either mayo or dressing (one was balsamic😊) so there would have been syns. I finished off the potato salad for my lunch today. Although I can't easily calculate the syns, I know they would be far less than an average Saturday as it was an alcohol free day! No plans to eat out again this week so I'll be sticking 100% to plan.
I had to do my food shop yesterday as was busy on Friday. I didn't have much time to shop around so bought mixed berries as no frozen raspberries in Aldi. Today's portion was almost all blackberries. 😋
I'm ignoring the syns in today's gravy. It's just 1 syn for the lot and I usually have enough to freeze some for a midweek meal so a quarter of a syn each! 🤣
Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit squash (F), HEB porridge, HEA milk, banana & berries (F,S)
L- ham salad (P,S)
D- HB steaks (P,S), SW roast potatoes (F), loads more veg (S)
Syns- mayonnaise in potato salad?, weekend wine0 -
Eh up all 👋🏻STS this week, bit annoying as 2 weeks running. Better than gain but frustrating.
Hubby is back to driving although not sure he should but as we have an automatic he’s managing ok. Even walked the dog hooked to his belt (uses a stick for balance). 🤞🏻 Crossed for next week or I’m walking again 😵💫.All in all looks like he’s doing ok, arms a lovely shade of reds & blues 🥴.
I got to target on green days. Blame my ibs on eating too much pasta as was ‘free’ 😡Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

I know TIE ,I lost nearly 3stone in 1996 ,then fell off the wagon as I really wanted rice with my curry and potatoes with my roast .having got into the mindset of unlimited pasta etc most of it went back on
This plan does suit me much better, but I am watching portion sizes as ,unfortunately I’m one of those people who v rarely feels stuffed and can always eat a lot again v quickly after my meal ( the other name for it is just greedy😏)
I do feel v sick if I get v hungry and hunger can trigger migraine .
my friend ( slim) says she has never had hunger pains ,but they do make me feel ill0 -
STS isn't bad @TakeItEazy. Hopefully now you'll find it easier to stay on plan. Good news that your DH is driving again. Aside from the obvious practical reasons, I expect he feels more normal and in control after such a roller coaster few months.
I've never understood the idea of unlimited free food. I eat carbs with many of my meals, especially dinner and just my HEB with breakfast . I just make sure that I have at least a third, usually more like half, of a plate of vegetables. I rarely eat puddings, just an occasional cheeseboard when I'm eating out.0 -
Good to hear your DH is driving again @TakeItEazy. As @maman says it will hopefully be easier to stay on plan without the stress and worry.
When I was a smoker and slimmer I never used to suffer hunger pains and ate far less than I do now but I still don't eat huge portions, particularly of carbs but I do feel hunger pains now if I don't eat regularly. Like @maman I do try to eat at least 1/3 Speed every day, although some days that includes what is in the meal rather than separate on the plate! I don't do veg on the side of a curry & rice meal!
