WinterWarrior, Four_Seasons, SuperMoose, poppy811 and gran3 - thanks all for showing concern, I think it was all getting a bit too much and I couldn't see a way forward, anyway I've come to realize I can't look after everyone, we can't alter what's happening in the big wide world and only help others in any way we can, which may only be in a small way, so I'm back on the straight and narrow again
The last few days I have kept my head down, my nose in my budget book and worked out a new plan, and come to realize the canopy savings will have to be less to accommodate price increases, so it will take longer. Also it's no good panicking about all the price increases as I don't know what any of them are yet and will deal with them when I know more.
I haven't been out shopping at all and just using some food I already have in, but as I'm running out of milk (again) I will have to venture out soon. I looked after dgs on Tuesday that always cheers me up and wears me out, oh and endless puppy cuddles of course. I have pup on Friday and Saturday night's whilst dd and family are away, can't wait
I haven't even ventured down the lottie, but that will be changing, I have planted some aubergine seeds so I feel as the new veggie season is now starting and I've found out that we are having an open day/plant sale in June . I will be getting my wooden cold frame out of the shed and then I can get to some more seed trays, I have loads but just can't get to them so I've utilized some plastic mushroom boxes for the aubergines!! That will be done at the weekend if it's fine and the pup can join me outside helping!!!!!
That's about it at the moment, I hope everyone is fine and not worrying like I have been as its not worth it, the bills will go up whether we like it or not and I'm afraid we are going to have to deal with it the best we can, or I will have to any way.

Good to see you back posting. It’s only natural to worry about things at the moment everything is so gloomy. Worrying won’t make a difference though. Could the canopy wait until next year so you can keep the money in reserve should you need it?I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Bill rising is horrific and very worrying for all of us on fixed pension income. I had a wobble yesterday too but in the end the calculator came out and adjustments have been made but my goodness it will be tight, Thinking of you, you come across as a very capable and positive person just keep going.4

Welcome back. It’s a worrying time. I have heating oil, no gas, and unfortunately there’s no cap on prices. So far it looks like it has over doubled so far 😖 my last 500l was £315, the next would be around £700 at todays price. I’m eking it out a bit longer! The world is a scary place right now, but we can’t control everything, we just need to ride it out and know it could be so much worse ⭐️Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

For when you are back....
Have a look at kindle unlimited. At the moment it's 2 months free. I think a lot of magazines are available free on unlimited if the library can't oblige4 -
Sun_Addict - you're right it's no good worrying it won't make a difference and I realize that now, so I'm just going to carry on. As regards the canopy, I will just save as much as I can and if it comes to a stage when I can't put it off any longer I will have to make the difference up from the emergency fund, cos that's what's it's there for really, but I as hoping not to too it

poppy811 - I think one of the problems is that I still don't know what any of the increases will be for me personally, so I can't really budget properly and as you put it when you're on a low fixed income every penny has a place and is counted. But I'm feeling much better now and I'm sure I'll manage with a bit of creative accounting£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund1

WinterWarrior - I feel your pain regards oil prices as they seem to be going up hour on hour
, the world is a Very Scary place at the moment but we're so much better off than many in Europe. I just keep thinking at least I own my own house and have no debts, I'm so glad I paid my debts off years ago and learnt my lesson.
I reckon we will have to start buying an emergency chocolate stash (in case of shortage you understand) mind you I'll have to get dd1 to keep it for me and ration it out otherwise it'd would be all gone in week
