peb - I had to renew my library books over the net tonight as I'd forgotten to take them back today!! So I haven't asked about borrowbox yet but I will have a look at kindle unlimited as I do read quite a bit. I usually acquire books from dd3 as well as the library, she buys quite a few but that's come to a stop as her other half isnt sure about his job and they are cutting back.

Hello and lovely to see you backI think lots of people, me included, are finding *everything* a bit too much especially as there seems very little you can do about most of it. Like you I've decided that if I can do something to help someone somewhere then I will. Can't change the big stuff that's happening at the moment and making myself feel ill doesn't help anyone and certainly not me!Good you got some seeds planted. i always think that planting seeds is a looking positively at the future sort of thing. Might not be explaining myself very well but hope you know what I mean.I'm liking the idea of an emergency chocolate stash. Can I add sweets too please?Happy Thursday, hope it's good for everyone. Please put out food and water for the birds and hedgehogs3

Hi just popped in to say I too have been feeling overwhelmed by everything happening at the moment and concerned about price rises but am also feeling calmer and grateful for everything I have the last couple of days.
I guess all we can do is take a day at a time, and yes yes yes to the chocolate stash!
It’s my biggest (daily!)treat! Whatever makes us feel good.
Glad to hear you’re feeling more positive now, and dog cuddles definitely make everything better too 😊😊😊3 -
SuperMoose - I just thought it was me feeling like this, but I'm sure chocolate and sweeties help in these matters
I'm going to try and find something good/positive to do for someone each day when possible£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund2 -
Amber1980 - usually I cope pretty well with everything but everything seems to happening at the same time!! So a large chocolate stash is needed and a vase of flowers inside also makes me happy, so at the food hub today I picked a bunch up for the ground total of nothing
yay

Today I fluffed around doing bits and pieces and then went to the food hub, where I managed to acquire a bunch of flowers, a little veg and a small loaf, so not much today but enough to last for a couple of days.
I also visited the community pantry and spent £7 on loads of stuff which has mainly gone upstairs in my stash box which is usually full of material, but needs must so that's gone into a suitcase! I haven't stashed any chocolate or biscuits yet as I will have to get dd to hoard that for me
I/washing machine did a load of laundry and I tried it on a 30° wash for 14 mins to see what happened and its fine, I purposefully put in a stained t shirt that my dgs had upset coffee over over and had let it dry and I'm pleased to say it came out unmarked and cleanso I will use that temperature again.
I also got ready some more seed trays for planting more seeds over the weekend and I'll get young dgd who's staying over, to help me and then when they are ready for eating I can give them to her, and she can plant a couple of pumpkin seeds for Halloween.
I made a lentil bol but didn't fancy it so had a jacket potato and cheese, the bol I will have over the next couple of days, whilst dgd has a pizza and chips and shep pie for her dinners. And the pup will have his chicken, rice and biscuits, can't forget the baby!! Dd seems to have had pup ages but he's not even a year old yet.
Anyway I have got to write my diary and wash the pots from tea, so I'll go for a quick browse of the boards and get on, have a good night.

I'm going to try and find something good/positive to do for someone each day when possibleReally I think everyone is feeling like it. I've read the forums for longer than I've posted and I can't remember a time when so many people are worried and concerned about *everything*. Very glad the forum is here as it is a great help and support even for those of us who don't post much.Glad you got flowers at the food hub, that's lovelyAnd pup seems well catered for!
Need to do a shopping list and will add sweets to it oh yesEnjoy the rest of the evening and tomorrow. Please put out food and water for the birds and hedgehogs3 -
Good to see you back NannyG, and sounding so positive.
Been feeling low and anxious too. I've got the same problem of being on a low fixed income and not yet knowing quite how much the increases are going to be, although my water bill for next year has come - up 7%. I'm also dependent on oil for heating like WW and have been trying to eke out my remaining litres. I can't believe the size of the price rise there. I have had a winter without oil before and nobody died but we had serious problems with mould so I don't want to do that again.
Will put it off as long as possible but worst case scenario we can always sell up and downsize.

SuperMoose - I hope you remembered to add sweets to your shopping list, I have told dgd we will be getting some tomorrow, she's only 8 so still looking forwards to things like that
