SuperMoose - I'm veggie, I don't think I would like being a vegan I like milk, honey, eggs and cheese too much. I gave up meat over 30 years ago when animal welfare was way down the list and gave up because of that. My two daughters also gave up meat/fish with me although one eats meat/fish now, my eldest is still veggie and my youngest (dd3) was bought up as a veggie from being born but if she wanted to eat meat at friends houses etc then that was her choice, I never had/cooked it at home, she does eat a little meat now but won't cook it so it's not often, her other half was bought up by a veggie mum as well!!!

Maybe vege and vegan sweets should be named Gordon grass, Terry tomato, Larry leaf, etc. instead? 😁Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Up with the lark this morning and got quite a bit done before I visited the hub. Eldest tested positive for covid yesterday along with her husband so I went to the hub to get some bread and veggies for them, they get through quite a lot of food as there's 3 children dgc (all negative), and today the other test you have came back positive for hubbie but negative for her, just out of curiosity she did another lft at home and that was also negative so don't know what happened yesterday, so she went into work today!!!
Anyway took eldest dgd to the orthodontist and then went to A's for some uht milk ( that should last a couple of weeks). I dropped dgd, veggies and bread etc off at dds (keeping a good distance away) - sil has a bad headache and sniffles but otherwise OK at the moment and then home and did a bit of work in the garden! I put some petrol in the car at A's it was 161.7 a litre which was cheaper than toscos, but as I put the same money amount in each month I noticed it certainly doesn't fill it up anymore!!!!
Made a veggie pasta for tea using veggies from yesterday's hub visit and learnt today they are hoping to turn it into a community pantry soon, which will be a lot nearer for me, they just need help shelving out a room for the pantry bit. I love the idea of a community pantry, hubs etc because of the amount of food going in landfill, but it's not so good when you have to rely on them. We were having a bit of a discussion today whilst waiting for it to open about the people who use them and besides a lot of young families and pensioners they were saying there seems to be an increasing amount of people who have got into debt in the first lockdown who are finding it increasingly difficult to pay it back.
Another discussion was a lady is organizing a red, white and blue knitted blanket for the jubilee weekend for a kiddies party that's happening locally, for all the littlies to sit on and have the tea party, so I'll be knitting a few squares for that as they want to make it pretty big and involve lots of people.
Sound good!!

Nannyg - I've been veggie a very long time but really wish I'd been brought up as such. I know what you mean about being vegan. Eggs, cheese, milk I love. It's difficult because I would like to be vegan butPlease put out food and water for the birds and hedgehogs1

SuperMoose - this is the second time round for them, they both work for the nhs with vulnerable patients so have to be very careful, but none of the kids have had it. Eldest dgd was at senior school throughout lockdown etc and loved the peace and quiet and one to one teaching and the two littlies just enjoyed all the play time they had!!

WinterWarrior - it would make more sense
Asked dd to get me some neo choc, so I'm hoping some will appear quite soon. The only problem is as I've been on the hunt for it I've been accidentally picking up other chocolate goodies (and some sweets) in compensation for not being able to get it.
I have also decided to not get dgc Easter eggs this year and put cash in their cards instead! I have been known on more than one occasion to have to buy their eggs a few times before the big day

Sorry for not posting yesterday, it just ran away with me!
Yesterday I went to a community pantry to buy my food, it's the one I joined a couple of weeks ago and I thought I would get a few bits to put away - tins and such like. Came away with a few bits and bobs for stores and a few other bits as well. The biggest was a BOX of large family sour cream and onion loaded bites, I had a packet of these at Xmas and really liked them so I will keep a couple and divide the rest out between dds! These were free, I didn't realise the chap was on about a box I thought he meant a packet!!!! I think the dds will be pleased!
After lunch I went for a walk to the chemist and then tinkered in the garden. It was lovely in the warm sun I even took time out and got a chair out for a sit down with a coffee! Did quite a bit of weeding and mending bits and clearing up some rubbish, so nice time spent outside.
Had leftovers for tea, spoke to dd2 for over an hour, and dd1 called in after work with some bits.
This morning dd1 phoned and she has tested positive for cv again (after the negative one) she was working today, when the first one showed positive she did another three and each one is positive, so another pcr (or whatever it is called) has been done, a photo of the four positives emailed to her boss and she Is now doing housework!!! Sil has a bad headache, sore throat and generally feels 'not right', but otherwise is fine and due back at work next week.
So this afternoon I'm reassessing my budgets as I now know how much my g&e has gone up, it's more or less doubled!!! Eek!!! I had the email a couple of days ago but I couldn't face looking at money things. So today is the day I will make myself a strong coffee and get all my books out and sit at the kitchen table out of the way of distractions. I'll let you know later, but no photos as I may have pulled all my hair out
Just before I start on money matters I'm going to plant a few seeds, I have been warming up the seed trays and compost in my front window so it's just a case of putting the seeds in.
I've just realised I need some seeds I'm supposed to be sowing, I'll go to b&q tomorrow and just sow the others that I need to.
Back later

So I'm done with the monies.
I've wriggled and jiggled it around the dining table and eventually got some sort of budget done that hopefully will balance but it's very tight and if I need summer clothes it'll definitely be a cs! But I've done it, I won't be able to save the same amount for the canopy but I'll try to stick the amount I have allowed but ....
then I found a section I hadn't allowed for so I had to rejig it again! Anyway all done for the time being, I just hope nothing else jumps up in price like g&e!!!! And because I've had to redo it, it is now even tighter! But hey I'm OK, I will be able to eat, have a house and I can still keep the car for the time being. Oh and don't forget the increase in pension in May of just under £4 a week!! Lol. If I manage on this budget the increase will go into canopy fund, but it depends on how I manage, I'll probably just keep it in the general house keeping.
So for tea I've had scrambled eggs on toast with some salad followed by fruit and yogurt. Oh I feel it's a bit of a serious post, but I'm happy with it all and tomorrow is supposed to be nice so I will be buying some seeds that I'm missing and making a coconut and banana cake to eat next week.
Going to try some knitting in front of the tv tonight but I'm first going to have a look around the boards.
