ancientmum - I wasn't surprised by the poly tunnel as its been taped, stuck and fixed a few times, so I think a new cover was needed. Sorry to hear about your shed and I hope you can get it back together again as they're so expensive to buy these days, perhaps it just wanted to get friendly :D. My shed wasn't mentioned so I'm assuming that it's ok, I'll have to go down there when I get a free couple of hours, perhaps Friday as tomorrow I'll be out most of the day.I've sorted seeds out but I've yet to buy seed compost and get my pots/trays ready, but I don't want to start too early as its still so cold where I am.

  • Good to hear about the hog Nannyg. We're hoping to see babies too. Last year we had Mr Hedgehog trying to impress Mrs Hedgehog - we saw them on the camera in front of the feeder. It didn't get X-rated though! :D
We can order books for free which I am very grateful for as where we previously lived it was £1.50 unless you did it yourself online and then it was "only" 75p.
Glad you should be able to get a replacement cover for the polytunnel. Must be a good thing to have.
As it was dry and not too windy for the first time in what seems like weeks we were able to get out in the garden and do some much needed tidying up. It's looks better now :)

Please put out food and water for the birds and hedgehogs :)

SuperMoose - I really thought book reserving was free but hey ho.

It's been windy here, but there has been rain spitting as well, so had a baking day. I had some puff pastry in the fridge so made four single portion veggie pies, had one for tea, frozen two and will have the other tomorrow for tea. I also made another cake, this one fruit and nut, as had some nuts left that needed eating, it was going to be date and nut but when I went date hunting I couldn't find them, so it ended up sultan and nut instead, I've just had a slice and its much nicer than the lemon one I made! I might slice it tomorrow and freeze it as I have a hole in the freezer from where I took a loaf of bread out.

That's about it really, the only other productive thing I've done is a bit of cleaning - boring ....
I hope everyone is keeping warm, fed and healthy and coping with life.

  • WinterWarrior - I raided the fridge and roasted some onion, red pepper, courgette, mushrooms and sweet potato with some garlic and thyme (I love thyme for winter and oregano for summer) in the oven whilst the puff pastry was getting to room temperature. I made one pasty but the pastry split, so as I have some single portion dishes I divided the rest of the mixture into them and covered them over. Oh I also put some cubes of cheese into each one as well and they taste lovely, I think it was the added cheese!!! There was a bit of pastry left so I rerolled it out spread mincemeat (sweet) over it, rolled it up cut the 'sausage' up into little rolls, cooked and have enough for two puddings.

Trying to use fridge bits up before I get anymore.

  • Hope you're keeping alright WW, not working too hard and Mr and furries are fine as well. I have only been nipping in and out quickly the last few days.

  • They sound lovely. MrWW is outraged if he orders pie when we are out and it’s in a dish with just a top on, he wants his pie to have a bottom 🤣 I haven’t made pies for ages.
I'm good thank you nanny, I’m just counting the days until the weekend and then pay day on Monday. I hope you are well. I was sorry to read your poly tunnel had died. Are they expensive to replace?

WinterWarrior - I'm hoping I only need a new cover for it which costs around £60 -70, but I have a sinking fund for the lottie so the money's there, thank goodness. I haven't been down there yet to have a look!
I'm another one who likes pastry on the bottom of a pie, I love anything pastry or bread, I'm a big carb person, which is why I need to lose a few pounds :)

I've just come back from the food hub and picked up a couple of cheese twists, cheese and pastry what can go wrong, I'm expecting big things from them I hope they live up to my expectations!!!!! I also got some hot cross buns but I've put those in the freezer as I've got my cake on the go.

It's lovely and sunny here at the moment, but I went to the hub in the car even though my shopping trolley has come, mind you as its as flat as a pancake in its box I'm assuming I've got to do something to it before using, so that's the job for this afternoon.

Right soup for lunch (hm leek & pot).
