  • nannygladys - hello again :)
Warm here as well today, managed to get the washing dry outside so that's always a bonus at this time of year. Not much looking forward to the storm tomorrow. We've checked that all our hatchs are battened down and will be staying in. Take care if you do go out to the post office.
I have library books to collect (I love the library) but will wait until the weather is better. I have plenty at home to read - about 80 books on my to read pile :#
Lemon cake sounds lovely - if you don't manage to eat it all I'm sure we could help :D

Please put out food and water for the birds and hedgehogs :)
  • @SuperMoose all I can think of is those amazing choc n nut super mouses from the 80’s….the best thing that came from my mums new fridge freezer (before that it was an ice box in the fridge and no room for such delicacies) 😋
As long as no one is trying to eating me that's good :D
Wonder if you can still get choc n nut super mouses? :)

Please put out food and water for the birds and hedgehogs :)

SuperMoose - I haven't made my lemon cake probably do it tomorrow now, I have a visiting cat on my knee and don't won't to disturb him!!! He's an old boy and his owners both work, they live near by, and I can't turn him out in all this wind, it hasn't been too bad here up to now, so I hope I haven't  jinxed it.

I can remember having dinner parties in the 70s/80s, it sounds grand but we all had children so it was easier to invite friends round, and the kids all slept up stairs. We tried cooking posher food which didn't always work out but we always had a good laugh if it went wrong, hm mousse used to figure then as well!!

Skint_yet_Again - my kids loved artic roll, I used to serve fruit and a bit of chocolate sauce on it for a treat!! I saw some a few years ago and bought it, it wasn't a patch on what I thought it was years ago!! Vienettas have improved but I'm sure they are smaller now, but there is more variety.

I've stayed in waiting for the weather to get worse, at dinnertime I was watching the news with no wind and the sun shining in!! It has got really windy now and then, but the sun keeps coming out between times. I hope this is it for us. The last one Dudley? Wasn't so quiet though.

I'm trying to use up what I have in to eat, so poached eggs on sour dough for breakfast and pasta and cream cheese and toms for lunch, not sure about tea I'll have to have a look in the fridge.
I am so glad the sour dough bread has at last been eaten, I know people love it and its the 'in' bread but it's not for me, back to wholemeal and seeded for me. But you don't find out these things until you try, and it was a free loaf so at least I didn't spend anything :)

Not sure what I'm doing over the weekend, well some baking as the lemons need using, the granola won't make itself and I have some pastry that need using up as well should have done it today and then I'd have some cake for after tea :/ hey ho.

There's quite a lot of blue sky and sun outside at the moment and I can't see the trees in the back garden swaying anymore.

I'm another who doesn't like sourdough but my DH loves it and makes it himself.  I stick to shop bought wholemeal!

Your visiting cat sounds lovely :) It's been really windy with lots of rain here so haven't been any further than the garden to put some bird food out.
Our visiting hedgehog stayed the night in the garden. There's 2 houses but she always stays in the same one. Probably won't been long before she gets up. There's plenty of food out as she is eating loads :)
Hope the weather stayed not too bad for you.
I'll be back tomorrow in search of lemon cake :D
Please put out food and water for the birds and hedgehogs :)
  • Wanders in looking for lemon cake :)
Hi Nannyg, hope your day has been good. More rain here but the wind has dropped so that's better.
    Night all.

  • @SuperMoose interesting that the hedgehog isn’t hibernating. I did wonder if ours was out and about.
I don’t love sourdough, but it’s ok toasted with lashings of butter and jam…probably defeats the object when it’s well disguised 😁
