Well, what a cold day, I've put my fire on instead of the ch, it's an old gas one that looks like a real fire with flames and makes my front room look cosy, but not sure how much money it's costing me!!!!
Went to the food hub this morning and got some fruit and veggies for the weekend, I won't be going again until Wednesday but should have enough to last. I even had a chocolate cake that when I unboxed it would just (and I mean just) feed two of you, anyway I've sliced it into the 'said' 6 slices and frozen them, I'm not joking you would put the whole slice in your mouth as they are so small, it had better be very rich, mind you I can't really complain when it was freeand on a healthier front I snaffled some kale, mushrooms and carrots. The fruit were strawberries, raspberries and oranges, so really happy with my bag. There was other stuff there but I only take what I need, I don't want to throw any away and there may be others there who need it more than me, although people in desperate need can apply for an emergency box that's delivered to them. The people are so nice there, they have started a little area where you can help yourself to tea and coffee all free, and you can stay chat to others there, it's run by the local Rotary group.
I slept really well last night, no waking up until 8am and I feel great, let's hope it carries on!

I know the types of servings you are talking about…we call them ‘mouses portions’ and it has to be said in a squeaky voice 🤣 and always mouses, never mice 😬 I would have just chopped in two nanny!

WinterWarrior - you are spot on with mouses portions, l ate TWO, ok then THREE at teatime, and they weren't really rich, just very small, so glad I didn't pay for it!!!
I woke up this morning after another good night's sleep and then about 10am a flipping migraine started, I thought my head was going to explode, and then the snake lights started, other wise I may have thought I'd got the dreaded virus. Took some pills and slept for a couple of hours, it's still there lurking in the background but the sickness went off earlier so I did get something to eat (including the cake, which didn't help really). So not a lot has been done in this house hold, I haven't had one for a few years until a while ago, so they can go back where they came from.
Tomorrow is another day and I hope to get out for a bit of fresh air, just up the road for a bit and back and sort food out for next week.

Well still feeling the end of the migraine this morning but it's much much better now, and I'm practically normal again lol!!
So haven't done much again today, this afternoon I did a bit of sewing (a mug rug) and that's about it, I will definitely have to get going tomorrow. Had a lovely visit from eldest and she seems a different person now the studying has finished.
I have a free week, bar my usual Tuesday grandma duties, so I'm not sure how to organize myself!! It'll probably include cleaning, washing etc etc!! All the boring stuff that has to be done, I don't mind really, I may moan about doing it all but I hate to see the house untidy and in need of a good clean, so it's a no brained.
That's it for 'boring' day

Another day in paradise.
I haven't been out, only to get the bins in and feel right fed up, horrible weather hasn't stopped raining all day and its just so cold.
It's one of those days where I just can't be bothered, so I've hunkered down in the front room with copious cups of coffee and the odd sandwich.
No hoovering done, no dusting just taking clothes out of the wm and draping over the clothes horse, such excitement!!!

Well today was grandma duty day and gets me out of bed and up and at it early, and I get puppy cuddles!!!!! My little grandson is a constant delight, very loving, inquisitive and like a sponge, with some seriously dirty bum action each time I look after him
, that's something I can bank for later if l want to embarrass him!!!!!! (Not really). I have 6 dgc and they are all different little humans and very very special to me and I love them all dearly.
I had thought I would call in for the coop £5 deal on the way back home but in all honesty I couldn't really be bothered and I'm so glad I did as it saved that money I have on my coop card for a time when I might really need it. So instead had beans on toast.
I'm still feeling fed up with myself, not sure why really, but I do wish I knew how much the council tax was going up and also what I'll be paying for energy come April/May, it's the uncertainty surrounding everything I reckon it's all playing on my mind. I will have to have a strong word with myself because I can't 'do' anything about it, only what I'm already doing.
I will keep being frugal through necessity really, otherwise this canopy will never be replaced and I need to get it done this year before it gets any worse, it should have been replaced last time I had it recovered, but there's always something else calling for money when it's your own house so I took the easy option. Anyway it's water under the bridge and I've got to suck it up.
Tomorrow is another day and I have the rest of the week off any dgc duties so unsure what my plans are, but I won't be going too far.

just wondering if you do surveys at all? They help towards Christmas etc for me as you can earn vouchers. I do the postal survey too and earn vouchers as well as stamps. It’s a help.2
-
cbsexec - I have had a go at surveys but I think as an older person we don't seem to be offered that many, thanks for any suggestions though, I'm sure everything will work out for all us eventually.(ever the optimist
)
I'm feeling much more positive today, don't know why but I feel back to normal and the 'Fed up' stage has left my house (and body)!!
I haven't done that much though, one load of laundry that I hung out side for about 3/4 hour, it was so windy that I was getting worried it would fly off, so I got it back in, It did dry it a bit though!
I made a hm pizza for tea I used a base I got free from the food hub, I didn't realise it was a gf one and originally cost over £3!!! It tasted OK though and very filling after I put the topping on, but I'm glad I didn't buy it.
I sorted the fridge and freezer out and made a menu for the next 7/8 days, I will try to keep to it, but I may change it around a bit. On it are hm pasties (some for the freezer), risotto to use up leek and courgette, veggie sausage and mash-made out of carrot and swede, and a few other meals to incorporate food in the fridge, then hopefully I can refill the fridge back with veggies from the hub. I will be needing bread and milk soon so may incorporate a visit to the food hub and community pantry when I go to the sm for milk. I also need 5 stamps, dreading paying for them!!!!!
My knitting is growing slowly at the moment, but I don't want to tax my wrists too much, and I have started doing a bit of sewing again as I would like to have a go at making some clothes again, or buying from the cs to alter, but at present I haven't seen anything suitable. There doesn't seem to be many summerish clothes about at the moment.
That's it for today, I'm off for a scout round the boards

nannyg, I'm late 60s and have made over £500 in the last year or so on Prolific Academic, usually £25 - £30 a month which makes quite a difference when you're on a small budget; some of the studies have specifically been for older people - last week I did one where you had to be either 18 - 30 or over 60 and got £7.50 for it. They don't need people at the moment, but definitely worth joining the waiting list.3
-
Nonnadiluca - I will definitely have a look at them as its one I haven't so far. We could all do with a bit more to help out. Thanks for the suggestion. If I got on the list the canopy could be done sooner, I know I go on about it but it's my goal this year, then some plastering around the bay will have to done and redecorating of that wall ....
