ive just walked out of my job at argos for the way you are treated, 2 staff on the floor at our branch to deal with tills collecting stuff ,empting lifts ,returns etc etc and all you ever get is make sure you flock insurance and the extras like store cards ,i think the way argos treats its staff is really bad 2 staff on even in our busys times we have to rely on the manager coming out of office to help which didnt always happen ,so yes stuff doesnt always get checked the way it should and alot of the time we have to go on the customers word that it hasnt been used as we didnt even have a customers service till

We bought an external DVD RE-WRITER and we connected it up to our laptop and then when we opened the drawer there was a Learn Norwegian language disc in there it was old and badly scratched.... needless to say we took it back and exchanged for a sealed one...

    Deja Vu

The reason they offer the return policy is because they save on store space, the customer cannot normally see an item before buying it, as you can in a normal shop.

    .

Ok firstly YES you can request to look at an item before purchase
2nd how do you work out it saves on store space how ? if the item is returned and is not faulty and goes back into stock then this item could have already been replenished through delivery and therefore a returned item means they have more in stock
I also admit like many others that returns should be checked and there is no excuse grossly under staffed though they are, we should always check returned items, just hope customers realise this when we start the check procedure to be told " well i havent even opened it " or similar and therefore there wait will be even longer and they will have more of a moan at the poor customer service staff that is under paid and over worked. We are only human and are only trying to make a living, like it has already been said many a time complain to Head Office and maybe they will put staffing levals back up to what they used to be years ago.
Also if a customer likes to view an item then procedes that they dont want it, as some have stated on here that item is then openend and would not be accepted so would that have to be returned, lets be realistic not all clothes in clothes shops have never been tried on, is that not why they have changing rooms or is that scanario classed as ok ?

you can view but that usually involves queuing at customer services which is not the speediest thing

had lots of bad experiences at argos - the final straw was the kitchen scales covered with flour and cake mix, when it came the box had been sellotaped back together so when i got to the car i checked them for use, took them straight back ,queued at cs only for them to say it was me that had used them, well to go home, bake and then bring them back in under 5 mins would be pretty good. contemplating bying a walkman from them but dont know now...

  • My personal favourite of late has been the Argos sale flier. Which helpfully - presumably as a legal requirement - lists when the item has been previously on sale. A whole bunch of the items are ... £24.99! Was £39.99! (previous sale price £19.99)
  • Bought a phone a few years back and it already had some numbers and names put into the phone book!

.....I too once bought a philips cordless phone from Argos. It had messages on the answerphone from the person that had bought it. Interesting conversation LOL.
One thing I noticed on the box was that it had a "opened for inspection" label on it. I suppose that's how Argos get around the fact that the seal has been broken.
    I hate paying INTEREST :T
