Argos selling used items

You are buying from the shop therefore the DSR does not apply. Reserving it does not mean buying it. You need to order it online for delivery to your house.0
-
At least if you buy stuff online, for home delivery, you will not get a " used " item that someone has returned, downside is you have to add the delivery charge to the price of the item.0

Indeed they do, but usually to the shop, where they are often sold again to an unsuspecting customer.0 -
My friend bought a mobile phone for her son from Argos. There was 2 photos on the memory card and peoples numbers stored on the phone !!
I have asked for things to be changed before as they had obviously been opened. Not sure if its just our local store tho but lots of people i have spoken too have said the same thingfurrypig says:my name is Choccy and I am addicted to nose free stamps as I want to save them all and give them noses!!!:rotfl:
About me. Im Choccy or Chocolate orange depending on where i am.Yes occasionally i am a total looon who spends too long online, but no where near as much £ as her spendy elves do ..:D0 -
I bought a Transformer Mustang car thing for my son for Christmas and when he opened it, the top of it was all scratched, it was not sealed in, just a bit of sellotape around it. It will not "transform", it doesn't fit together properly and is just a crock of c@c as far as I can see. It cost me near £20 and I see they are flogging them off on the website now for £7.48. Got my receipt so shall be going back with it as soon as I'm feeling better.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

My friend told me that it is absolutely normal to buy sleeping bags in Argos take them on holiday( sweat them out) and bring them back. Apparently all the students are doing it! Yuck, went and bought mine somewhere else.
About time they stoped taking things back ( apart from being falty) , people should learn to buy stuff they actualy want to keep.
I`ll never forget the story when sombodys girlfriend had to sniff the socks, pants, all the clothes returned to M&S. Even he didn`t know that was her job.
Just wonder how many workers are on their nees sniffing after this Christmas!0 -
Tbh, I don't see why the money back gurantee should stop.
Lots (if not all?) have a similar policy and could be subject to people abusing it.
The Argos nearest to us is quite the reverse of the ones mentioned, they scrutinise every return to the point of making you feel guilty even if you're not. The customer service in general is horrendous and the staff have no concept of consumer law.
They, like Boots have started plugging in electrical items to check the fault.
I for one would not buy anything based on a picture in a book or website if I thought I would be stuck with it unless it was broken.0 -
I also work for argos...
OK first thing is first...The Returns Policy
Items can be returned under the 30 Day Money Back Guarantee IF...
the items is 1. Unoppened...2. In the Original Packaging.
Now where the problems start.....
In many cases customers say they just had a look at the item and that is why the item is opened...in this case if they are being truthful, all we need to do is check the contents and tape the item back up. If however, the person has used the item it, they are being untruthful!!
We deal with hunderds of returns every day and some problems may take 20mins to deal with one customer. At this point a que is building up with many frustrated and annoyed customers at the lack of action.
Most stores only have 1 customer service till at which refunds can be processed. Argos work under a very very tight staffing levels...which is maybe why the prices you pay for items are so low and it is a market leader for competitive business in the UK...im sure you all agree?
So picture the poor customer service person who has a massive que of people and has just took ages with one customer. Next customer comes up with a kettle. The box appears unoppened and she says "my husband already bought one today". In reality giving her a refund without checking the box would take about 40 seconds and the next customer would be served...releasing alot of pressure on that person! as you know how big the ques can be. This member of staff has TRUSTED the wee "innocent granny". And then as the item has "not been used" it can be resold as it is "as new".
Alot of Argos refunds are done on trusting the customer, as we do not have the man power to spend 5 mins checking the contants of the box's. Its a sad truth.
Under no case should a used item be resold...it is just items that have been used that wont have been checked that in cases are resold.
The returns policy is being exploited! Lets look at the bigger issue now...
a small argos store will sell 600 units a day...If only 40 units are not returned then im sure you would agree in a business sense that this is a sucessful days trading? This is probably why we are restricted to only one customer service staff and only 1 till in most stores.0 -

There you have the truth of the matter, Argos is under-staffed, that is why we are all getting stuff that has been used by others, no excuses, they should employ more staff.
...and no I don't agree about their " low prices " either, you can often get a far better deal elsewhere.0
