    Thanks for doing August @apple_muncher.

Did some cleaning in the morning, then an afternoon in bed, feeling very low. Have let different niggles mount up & today they have got the better of me. Not had a day like this for a long time. Sure tomorrow will be better. Have my swab appointment in the afternoon, ready for my op on Monday

I was worried that I was being self-indulgent and that a reply to a perfectly reasonable question came out as  bit of a rant. I'm also a little bit defensive about not being 'economically active ie in paid employment. I'm aware that some turtles my age are still working regularly - I think I burnt out along the way. However I did pay for my first house by the time I was 25 - sometimes think buffy  and I make a whole person, she's in f-t employment (a career actually) and I bought a house. Don't think one of us could cope with both our mothers, though.

I've had a reasonable day. I was determined to go to town, strapped up my ankle with a crepe bandage, but before I could make my escape twin two descended on us with her son and mummy of twins' DD2 (luckily daft dog had been left at home to supervise the parents puppy - twins have split the care of the puppy and their parents will be back tomorrow). I said mum needed a new tv (this twin collected the last one from Arrrghos and set it up here), she looked on her phone, I said it could be delivered and told mum to pay with her card (last time it was me going to the cash machine to get cash out to refund the twin).

I went outside for a bit as it wasn't raining, cut a piece of weedproof fabric for the last little bit of border and tipped 5 buckets of stones in (last one was a mix of stones and soil so may need to get that back out). My main aim today (apart from getting to town) was to get ready for the window cleaner and the cleaner coming tomorrow (mum's arranged it, I was told afterwards). So needed to clear up the end of the bed where I have been working and get all the remaining plants, stones etc away from the window. Twin 2 took the children away (wanted to get back before the puppy wrecked her house).

Then the window cleaner appeared. Mad scramble to find enough coins, I went to the door and said life was confusing enough without him coming on the wrong day. His excuse was that the other window cleaner is away so he's on his own. Phoned about mum's podiatry appointment because we knew she had one but couldn't find the date written down anywhere. So about an hour and a quarter later than planned I phoned for a taxi. 4 bags for the cs (had gathered them up when we pulled the couch out to find a ball from the mini croquet set), put my feet in my wellies - the first fell over and skidded across the floor, the second had something in the toe but didn't want to keep the driver waiting any longer.

Driver stopped outside the cs (he offered to give me a hand but the bags were bulky but not heavy. Asked if I could hold onto one of their clothes rails to get the stone out of my welly - it was the croquet ball. Went down the side street opposite the cs to get to Wilco's. Couldn't decide on mum's sealant (not many to go in a gun, they're mostly the one I prefer and I think she needs 2 - 3 or the 2 pound ones, not the 11 pound one). Didn't stock up on pills as there were a couple of women taking up the whole aisle. Sat on the inside bench before carrying on (have sat down every chance I got).

Started down the main street then remembered I wanted some cash and a statement, so went back a bit. Bought lunch, resisted Greggs then went for my puzzle book - bought 2, the one I went for and the latest of the large print ones (expensive but only every 3 months) and a couple of unread novels in one of my favourite detective series (in the sale). Then headed for the taxi rank - only the minibus available but he had one of the little steps.

Collapsed in the recliner, waiting for the overnight delivery to arrive - 1 item subbed and 2 multiples missing (but want to do another trip to home/ more errands when I can). Then had painkillers and a lie down. Still want to make my bed with lots of sheets (put the 'bolster' cushion on last night, it helped clear my throat and chest) and hoover the floor again (then cleaner can borrow Henry if she wants to). Was going to nip home whilst she is here - she will make lunch for mum and keep her company for a while - but will wait and see how I feel. Ankle held up well today but couldn't have done more. Might take all the diy and garden stuff into the shed and sort screws and other bits.

Gratitudes - finding most of what I wanted easily, very few crowded areas, a few welcome treats and things that will slide down my throat (and sweets to suck), helpful taxi and minibus drivers.

Got a text just before 7 am to say the new tv was coming between 8 am and 9 am (should have been Tuesday). So mad scramble to put clothes on, move the laptop, wipes (laptop cleaning is on my list), handbag (morning pills), bag of new pills (two foils of pills ran out yesterday), water, cup, arch supports, crepe bandage, 2 puzzle books, one reading book, one jottings book, kitchen roll (for nose and throat), cardigan (it's a bit chilly), breakfast yoghurt (need to go for a spoon), pen, address book (need to book blood appointments now mum is a bit better).

Blinds have been moved so I can see vehicles coming down the street, unlocked the door and been outside barefoot several times with recycling and to unlock the gate - mum locked up last night (without asking or telling me) so my welly boots are in her room.

Going to eat now (I've been sitting long enough to calm down). Pills, eat, wait (may put tv on -decadent living)
