Not done a lot today. My breathing is still problematic and this evening my throat has started closing in (2 portions of ice cream and then found a salmon and broccoli meal which was manageable), can barely stand on my left foot, let alone walk and my fingers are cramping and hurting (I sewed a zip in a cushion, one side one evening and the other the next). I intended going to town/ my house - the list of things to do is mounting up - but have decided to put a food order in and have things delivered, in case I get any worse and still don't feel up to it tomorrow..
Brought the bins in, brought the wastebin back to my room. Also had a shower, brushed my teeth umpteen times, cleaned my mask and hose thoroughly (to avoid breathing in infection all night), added an extra grooming task, hair could do with cutting but will wait until my hands are under control (don't mind basic ahircut but don't need bald spots) and got dressed.
Grateful for being able to rest (remembering all the times I've worked with flu and my arm in a sling), easy food, books.
I am not buying into the 'getting up early and getting dressed' is so virtuous. Mum's partner did it and then spent all day reading his paper and dozing in his chair (and as the dementia took over getting dressed at times included putting on mum's clothes as that was the nearest wardrobe, putting on clean underpants over the top of the four previous days pants and dressing for arctic conditions). Mum has been more asleep in her chair than awake for days.
I have done lots of early morning wake ups. When I had multiple cleaning jobs I typically cleaned the church from 5 am (only on certain days), returned home at 6 am to wake the boys for paper rounds/ school and did an hour cleaning another church (mainly the parts used every evening by the local dance school, plus setting up tables and chairs for tea and refreshments for fundraising twice a week), arriving in time for the building society opening at 8.30 am. Three hours there (previous cleaner had let it go and it was a double shop size with attic rooms and a basement).
When my dad had died and I was doing the final renovation (stripping then decorating rooms which hadn't been touched since mum left more than 20 years previously) I would go there to work until I had to leave for the 3.30 building society job (only 3 times a week), then straight to the office cleaning (with a brief stop in B00ts for a meal deal) until 7 pm. For a while I did another building society for three hours after that, then roped in a co-worker from the office job until they eventually found a replacement (I had said I would be interested in the job, when being interviewed for build soc no 1 - a few weeks later I had a phone message to say I was to start that day as useless cleaner had walked off the job). And if any of the boys were off school sick (usually d & v or colds/ coughs/ flu type symptoms) I would check in on them throughout the day - one of the advantages of many 'little' jobs.
At one point I squeezed in a Tai Chi class once a week - the one where I managed to fall asleep in the middle of an exercise (standing up). It was a given that I would fall asleep and start to sway on my chair during the 10 minute meditation mid session. When I started my foundation degree, I congratulated myself on cutting my hours back and then realised they were still 42.
At various points I've also cleaned industrial premises, secure sites, a doctor's surgery, a SM (including the bakery and behind the fish counter with a once a week 4 am wake up) and a pub (cigarette ends and kebabs in the urinals - yuck). The other main advantage of multiple jobs is the freedom to leave if any particular job becomes unbearable. Anyone who has ever seen my house would find the idea of me being a cleaner totally laughable (my house is messy rather than dirty) but I decided if I was being a cleaner (rather than an accountant or any of the other things I've studied over the years) to be the best cleaner I could be.
However now I choose to please myself. I've worked out that more sleep means less pain, so if I feel I can/ want to sleep a little more (sometimes after several stages of the morning routine - teeth, pills, shower not doing the whole 19) I do so. If I need a nap in the afternoon, I have one. Any time I feel myself dozing, I put on the CPAP mask and if I doze, I doze. I've developed a slow morning routine that suits me. If I try to rush, things can get missed and I get flustered or feel harassed. If we have an early appointment, I wake up earlier. If mum needs me, at any time, I'm there but I'm not getting dressed, leaving the sanctuary of my room and sitting in the front room, just for appearances sake.
I will delete this post if anyone thinks I should

No way should you delete your post, mothernerd! You are banished to the chaise longue for a good ol' sit down and as much snoozing as you want 😀.

Oh I get that too Mothernerd - I get up and stay in my night clothes! The Horror! and do stuff and none of that counts as I wasn't dressed! You are not the only one, I can only do some stuff before she gets up. Luckily today the weather looks good so I will be outside "doing nothing"
You take care of you Mothernerd, The sanctuary of your room sounds lovely XXXNevertheless she persisted.7 -

Note to self:
I don't have to take this day all at once, but rather, one step, one breath, one moment at a time. I am only one person. Things will get done when they get done.

I'm not fond of affirmations (they make me feel daft) but I quite like this.
(I was trying to make this about Jollity and Frivolity but that only got me adverts for lash extensions and bra lift tape)
Try Sheldon the Tiny Dinosaur (who thinks he's a turtle) They're cartoons so I don't know if I can/ should import them - They're sweet but not sickly, Sheldon is very kind.
