Orange Retention Offers

To be honest I gave up with retentions, I phoned three times within the last months of my contract and clearly was not getting any joy (£5 off my £30 contract and a new phone (sony ericcson). I had my heart set on a tocco and they were charging £129 for it, despite explaining that I had seen orange deals for a lot cheaper. Notably the staff did try to talk me out the tocco because of the number of returns they were getting (personally very happy with the phone) Long story short ended up cancelling my contract and getting a better deal via a website so instead of getting an 18 month contract (free text and 400 mins) and a cost of £129 I got the phone that I wanted (tocco) 24 month contract £25 a month and a total of £225 cashback (including quidco!!).
My advice re retentions, don't both, get a new deal.0 -
My sister works in the retentions department, apparently the way Orange have restructured their bonus system means that people are losing out and there is big discontent. This is being passed onto the customer, the best example is me ringing today, threatening to cancel and them cancelling the account! Didn't even get put through to retentions!
They offered me the HTC diamond and the same tariff I am on at the moment, I politely mentioned that they have cheaper tariffs for new customers and they said that was the best they could do.
Off I go to 02 where the iPhone awaits!0 -
Guys, for a third time in 1 month I phoned Orange....got put through to retentions....asked for Samsung Omnia...we don't have...sorry.....anything else?
She suggested LG Viewty for free, 400 mins, 100 texts.......for £5 a month.................YES....£5 A MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Took it, even though its purple!!
A slave to Orange for another 18 months!0 -
fiver a month for that deal pretty good hey. As long as u dont go over your minutes, your sorted.
Man last year retentions were so good this year they not giving anywhere near as good offers. Last time it wasnt even an issue getting the pick of the phones, even n95 which just came out the week i took the deal. Now it's proving hard.
kinda weird on the tocco front they were offering me that for free but charging me money for n96 etc. Latest deal i was offered was for wait for it,FIFTY a month ( too much for me) 1800 mins, unlmited texts, and 100quid to pay for n96...def not going for that
hopefully once my contract officially ends and these new phones come out abetter deal will be had
anyone got any more news of good deals they've got from orange recently
is the tocco good mate how hard is it to text with? whats the major differences with it compared to lets say omnia etc?0 -
Would one of those be the Samsung Inov8 (or something like that ?)...
Possibly, it's a Samsung 8MP camera one, if that's what it's called.
faz mate could do with asking you some questions. im going to be out of contarct on the 30th, but my free loyalty mins and texts came of on the 18th, as that was the point iw as 18 months into my contract>>
so now im paying 55quid for 1200mins & unlimited texts (standard tariff). got offered a good deal earlier on but want a better phone...they werent really offering me the n96 but didnt press it enuff. now for the next month shud i stick to the 55 deal or is it bettr to go onto a sim olly deal...basically does moving to a sim only deal for a few months affect my bargaing power later on. i
want a n96 with the offer of contarct they agve me earlier, 2200xnet mins + unlimited texts 35quid. ive been with orange 4 years, and bills usualy 80ish month. tho asometiems ive had crazy ones..high spend customer basically.
I wouldn't go onto a sim only deal, as tempting as it might be for a month or so, as you will definitely lose bargaining power for getting your next deal!
If you do try holding on a few weeks, you will almost certainly get a better deal for the N96. I'm personally waiting for this as well, they've already offered me a N95 8GB free on a £45 tarriff for just £25 a month but I want to wait for a decent N96 offer.0 -

Just for everyone's information, the real successor to the n95 is the n85, they both have 3d chips which the n96 unfortunately does not, it is not the real replacement, even Nokia say that, The DVBH tuner will not work here also.
The most powerful phone out is the Samsung Innov8 it is the real successor, specs wise to the N95. N85 is probably the best if you do not need the 8MP camera.

I'm a fairly low-spending customer (£25-£30 a month) currently on Talk 30 with 30 texts & unlimited weekend+eve internet.
Still, as I make a few business trips each year, which always leave me with a £100+ bill, I can always get good upgrades. The online shop would allow me to have the LG KC910 (Renoir) for free on any service plan. However, with a phone like that I wanted a better data bundle so I called retentions.
He couldn't even match what the online shop was offering. To get a good data bundle (100MB would be enough) I had to go for Panther 45, with unlimited internet, £10 knocked off = £35.
That's not terrible, but what I really wanted was to move to Dolphin 25 for £20 and add on the 250MB bundle. Am I expecting too much? He said I was a high-band customer but maybe they say that to everyone0 -
Have just got a new 18 month contract with Orange through retentions for both of my contacted monthly mobile lines. My 12 month contract had ended so they offered me the Dolphin 25 package for £20 per month with a £15 credit to my account each month, overall cost £5 per month (per line/contract). This gives me 200 Xnet mins, unlimited texts plus my hubby and I will put each other as our magic number. Additionally we both got a Sony Eric W910i plus bluetooth headsets for no additional charge. We are pretty low users at the moment so this should suit our needs fine. Very pleased with this and actually spoke to some very helpful people at Orange :j0
