Orange Retention Offers

I've been offered some crap deals, I can give them notice at the end of the month. I've just had a bill for £85!
£30 on data! And with Orange not offering anything in way of unlimited data! I can't wait to get off!
Considering my bills are always £50+ you would have thought they would try to keep me. But apparently I am a "low level customer" as I am on a £35 contract.0 -
My contract just ran out.
Last time it ran out went through retentions, got a load of loyality minutes, and £10 a month off, with a new phone thrown in.
This time, same approach, retentions told me that my business wasn't worth keeping! Wouldn't even match my old contract (Bill is normally only £20 a month as I got so many free minutes). Tried again, no luck.
Went through customer services and asked them for an upgrade and I got to pretty much keep my old contract deal. Stange0 -
Hi there,
I called Orange upgrades department and they told me, as others have mentioned, that the Omnia is being discontinued. I pointed out that I have been into my local Orange shop and they were quite happy to sell me the Omnia. He then began talking about other phones out on the market.. In all fairness he was a nice enough guy but I'm looking for the Omnia phone. Has anyone actually had problems with the Omnia?0 -

I've not personally had a problem, but there are a number on the Voda wedsite, Roaming (the phone refusing to log on to overseas networks), Texting (buttons not working), and problems with the built in gps. Its almost impossible to tell if these are down to the phone or the Voda software thats added to it by the network ?
I was looking at the Omnia, but after playing with one I'm going back to the touch diamond. I just prefer the size...0 -

The only issue I have had is regarding the GPS. I've used some port splitting freeware that seems to solve the problem in most cases; however it still doesn't work with some applications. Having said that, I'm unsure if the problem is with the Omnia GPS or the software I'm using - I'm using only freeware software on my phone (I'm too stingy to buy COTS s/w such as the TomTom or Garmin sat navs!).
I've not used the phone overseas and so can't comment on that issue (raised by the poster above). The texting has been fine with me.
I've been very happy with the Omnia. Due to the windows mobile platform, its possible to muck about with the phone - add lots of extra software etc and that is what I love. I guess I was looking for more than just a regular phone that allows you to change the themes, add music and upload some games. Normally I simply go with the bog standard phone and because I managed to get the Omnia from Orange on a low tariff (as a result of certain circumstances), I am more than happy.0 -
I'm out of contract with Orange by about a month, and hopefully am in a pretty strong bargaining position. Long story short, the perks of my 24 month contract (1000 texts, 600+ minutes) were all retracted at the 18 month point; and consequently my bills went through the roof - from an average of £44 to £175/month. I'm away with the Navy a lot, and so despite complaining immediately, it's taken 6 months to sort the issue out, and I even cancelled my DD in an effort to stop the thieving, um, people cleaning me out. Initially, they tried to tell me it was my fault for not listening to the contract details. Once I suggested that only an imbecile would take out such a deal; and that I'd be quite happy to listen back to the recording of the alleged contract discussions, they then offered me £82 as a 'goodwill gesture'...I refused...next day it was £142...day after that £295...and then after I invoked OFCOM and the official complaints procedure, the offer suddenly leapt to £595 - which is what I was owed. They even suggested that it would have to stay as credit on my account until used up....methinks not, and a cheque will be in the post!
So....here's the question. They've screwed me royally; I've not stung them for compensation for my time and effort - yet - and I've been a customer for 8 years. Has anyone been in a similar situation, and what did they go for? I really only need the 600-ish minutes / 1000 texts to more than cover me, so I'm tempted to go for (a) an incredibly cheap monthly tariff, with those perks (I think £5 will be my opening offer), with a free upgrade, of course; or (b) see how much free stuff I can get out of them - Internet Everywhere, for example. Has anyone had experience of getting free accessories....Bluetooth headsets, memory cards (I'll be going for a Sony Ericsson) etc? Option (c), of course, is to go for both....
There's really no point in them offering me more minutes and texts than I have at the moment; and there do appear to be other good deals if I move...how far do you think I can push them?0 -
Hi guys, I thought I would share some knowledge with you guys as I have a friend who works in the retentions department of Orange.
For those looking for the N96 on an upgrade/retentions deal, it is still quite costly. At the moment you won't really get it under £100 for the handset plus £30+ a month contracts. However, if you wait a few weeks, there are a couple of 'bigger/better' phones coming out (8MB cameras?) which will steal some limelight from the N96 and therefore knock its price down. Therefore her advice is to wait a few weeks if you're interested in this phone.
Hope this helps anyone,0 -
My wifes contract was due to end on Nov 3rd so I rang up on Oct 3rd to request a PAC code.
She was on £35/month (something like 500 minutes 300 txt iirc) but doesn't really need this high a package. Just got it last year to get a free Wii in the run up to Christmas (Just about to receive last redemption cheque as well)
We said we were leaving to go to Virgin Mobile's new basic package which is £12/month inc new handset. (basic phone with 150 minutes and 150 texts)
The lady I spoke to said that they couldn't match this but they could do a packge with a new handset for £18/month. Told her to send PAC code. It arrived two days later.
Rang last week after receiving a letter from Orange asking us to stay. Rang them up and they offered £13.50/month for new handset with 300 mins 100 txts. Told them wasn't interested. They said its the best they could do but if we rang on Nov 1st we'd be offered a better deal?
Rang last night to explain previous conversations and see if anything had changed and the lad I spoke to said that he could offer a better deal and it woudn't get any better after Nov 1st.
He eventually offered.....
Racoon 25 (18 Months)
£10/month
300 mins
100 texts
Unlimited landline calls
He also gave me a choice of free handsets. After looking at them on the web (while still on the phone) I went for the Samsung Soul U800. (Other options were Nokia 6300, Nokia 6500 classic, a new sony...w905 possibly)
Didn't really need a new handset but he said that they couldn't do very good deals without them and it wouldn't be worth it. I guess it'll be going on Ebay or I see that CEX currently pay £80 for new U800's.
While he was processing it I asked for a bluetooth headset to go with the new phone (shy bairns get nowt)....he gave a little chuckle to himself, then said he would see what he could do. He come back and said yes, he would add a samsung wep-350 bluetooth headset for free . Looked it up on the web and it seems a pretty good headset, the cheapest I could see it was £30!
So...a good result in the end...
Hope this helps someone in a similar situation....:D

Would one of those be the Samsung Inov8 (or something like that ?)...0 -
I think carphone warehouse has that phone exclusively for a while but yea the innnov8 meant to be a good phone. Uses similar software to n96 so quite transferable for those coming from a n95 and don’t want a n96, tho im still after a n96 as I sold my n95 as soon as i got it on ebay.
faz mate could do with asking you some questions. im going to be out of contarct on the 30th, but my free loyalty mins and texts came of on the 18th, as that was the point iw as 18 months into my contract>>
so now im paying 55quid for 1200mins & unlimited texts (standard tariff). got offered a good deal earlier on but want a better phone...they werent really offering me the n96 but didnt press it enuff. now for the next month shud i stick to the 55 deal or is it bettr to go onto a sim olly deal...basically does moving to a sim only deal for a few months affect my bargaing power later on. i
want a n96 with the offer of contarct they agve me earlier, 2200xnet mins + unlimited texts 35quid. ive been with orange 4 years, and bills usualy 80ish month. tho asometiems ive had crazy ones..high spend customer basically.0
