To get the best deal you need to do more than say you are going to leave them, in order for them to take your threat seriously you need to get the leaving process started. You should tell them that the deals they have offered to date just aren't good enough and regretfully ask for your PAC code which they will likely give to you there and then. You then have 30 days to use the PAC code. In that time orange retentions may (or may not based on recent experiences) call you to offer you the best deal they are capable of offering after a bit of negotiation. If you still aren't happy then leave, if you are happy then stay.
Remember that requesting your PAC code is not itself the same as giving your 30 days notice. Your contract will only end if you use your PAC elsewhere or explicitly inform them that you are giving your 30 days notice.0 -
First of all I have to say Sharon from Orange was amazing, very helpful answered every question I had, she even gave me her email address and called me when I asked her too (3 times) from what appeared to be her personal number, or it could of been a company phone to call out with.
Carphone Warehouse: USELESS, walked into shop couldn't find LG Optimus 4x hd so asked young lad at customer desk if they had any he said no. That was it, he didn't think about it, ask if I wanted anything else or well, anything actually. Hardly fighting to sell me a contract so I left.
Phones4U: Class act, told them what I wanted and what Orange had offered, they didn't have a LG in stock or even in the local area, but the manager did locate one which will be ready for me on Friday! Also agreed a contract of 100 mins unltd texts 500mb and a swapable, not the same as Orange offered so I asked for something to sweeten the deal, I can now have a choice of accessories for the phone upon collection.
Orange: Despite the effort of Sharon I wasn't prepared to either have a lower quality phone for free or pay £150 for Xperia T or HTC One X, I asked for my PAC code in the hope they would phone call back and offer my something better (optimistic I know) but I do have 14 days after Friday to bring back my LG if Orange do the unthinkable.
Going into my rolling contract: Sharon told me that because I don't get my new LG until Friday I will have no choice but to go until the 8th of December on my current contract, not a huge problem but it does give me a little more negotiating power, probably try to get car accessories kit or bluetooth headset, not really sure yet. I wont need to cancel my contract as it is an upgrade which is less hassle.
All in all I will be very happy when I can use my new LG, free phone improved contract free accessories, and I will email the relevant people to comment on high quality staff. To quote Felix De Souza from The 51st State " It's always nice, to be nice"0 -
I was under the impression that the Phones4u 14 day policy only applied to goods bought in store that end up having poor coverage issues. I'm not certain that this is a general use returns policy. It certainly isn't mandatory for goods bought in store to have a cooling off period. I'd want to get this clarified if I was you.0

Thanks for your advice T_T I have looked on the phones4U website the returns section wasn't particularly helpful for in-store purchases for which have changed your mind, so I will ask when I go there after work tomorrow. I haven't actually signed a contract or given them my 'sensitive' details yet, so there is still time to pull out.
Thanks again.

Just rang up to get a PAC code as planning to get Iphone 5 from Tesco. This is for £229 for handset and £21.50 per month which gives 100 mins, 500 texts and 500 GB data
Was told that they have a promotion that gives you 1000 mins, unlimited texts and 1GB data with £249 for the handset
This is much better that the what is shown online for that monthly amount - 100 mins, 125 texts and 250 GB data0 -
My contract is due up on 14th November. I have looked around like we all do, and found on Affordable Mobiles what appears to be a really good deal.
On Three Network I can pay £59.99 and then pay £24 per month (which equates to £26.50 per month for 24 months) I can then get 500 minutes, 5000 text messages and unlimited data.
I am not really interested in such a huge quantity for the calls or texts, but really like the idea of unlimited data.
I called Orange this morning, and asked what my upgrade options were for the Samsung.
Free - if I pay £41 per month with data limited to 2gb or if I pay £49.99 I can then have it for £36 per month but with only 1gb of data. When I mentioned the offer on Three, I was told there was no way they could match it , and when I asked for my PAK code, I was given it straight away!
I was not rude, nor even forceful! Howcome it never works for me? Any further ideas about Affordable Mobiles and in particular the Three Network. I have been with Orange for a very long time, and do like the network coverage (most of the time.....)0 -
I too spoke to retentions as I'm after an S3. I currently pay £23pm (until last month it was £5 less as I had loyalty discount too), 600 mins, unlim texts and 500mb. I wanted same plan but 1gb and ideally handset free. Phones4u/Dialaphone are currently offering for either upgrades or new contracts, £28.50pm, 600 mins, unlim texts and 1gb with S3 free. Orange couldn't match and offered me handset for £49 and £36pm for the same package.
Needless to say I have gone with Dialaphone!0 -
My 24 month contract is up early January, so plan to call up Orange 30 days before this to request my PAC and see what they offer me.
My tariff is £36 a month, but has always been about £42, and I have had about 3 spends of £60-80 in the last 6 months due to running over my minutes, and using my phone whilst abroad. (I have been with Orange for 7 years, but I’m told that doesn’t make a difference when it comes to loyalty offers these days)
Anyway, I have an iphone 4, so would be pretty happy to keep my handset and move over to a sim only deal. Virgin are offering 1000 (or 1200?) mins + texts + 1gb data for £12 a month on a 30 day rolling contract, would it be realistic to expect Orange to match or beat this?
I would also consider a new 24 month contract if they could offer me an amazing deal on an S3, such as 500 mins + texts + data for £20 pcm ish, but realistically, I know that this is unlikely!
Does anyone have any advice as to what I can expect? Is it really down to luck fo the draw as to what you are offered?0 -
you do go over your tariff but id still say its luck as to what u will get ask for your pac and see what they offerWhat goes around-comes around0
