I've been bashing away with Orange for the last few days, having requested my PAC about a week ago, and I think I've got as far as I can - still not sure if I have spoken with the real Retentions dept yet, the people I have spoken with have said they are either in the "Loyalty" or "Upgrades" department. And one of them said that he was the "last link in the chain" so to speak. Who knows.

Anyway, what I am being offered is a new Motorola Razr i, which I really do want and have been asking for. The best they can offer is the phone at £50 upfront cost, and then £20.50 per month (24 months) for 400 mins, unltd texts and 350mb.

Total cost over 2 years = £542, and as the phone costs approx £340 simfree, that works out at approx £200 over 2 years for the connection. I don't really know if that's any good!?!

I rarely go over my current £20 per month allowances, although the CS did keep on mentioning my "loyalty balance", but then when I asked what was the best sim-free deal he could do, he just read off the website... :(

I figure that I could, by buying the phone outright and switching to someone like 3, claiming cashback etc, get it for about the same, or possibly a tiny bit less, but I kind of just want someone at Orange to phone me up and make me a sweet deal (like they did 3 years ago). Not sure that is going to happen - I guess too many people have been buying the new iphone and so swelled Orange's coffers.

Might not be a blindingly good deal but it is a fair deal and at the moment that seems to be the best outcome that can be expected. The only comparable deal I've seen is with Vodafone for the Razr-I. 600mins, unlim txts, 500mb data for £21.00/mo and £79.00 handset cost. I'd be happy enough with your deal, although I must say that 350mb is a very odd number for data allowance! At least you won't be messing about with cash back!

what's the best deal people have got with orange retentions for a samsung galaxy s3? I've heard some people get the phone for free on an 18 month contract for £22 a month contract, inc 200 mins, 200 texts and 2gb of data with vodaphone retentions. I just wondered if anyone knows if orange are as good with retention offers?
  • Chris - see my retention deal at the top of the page for S3 from Orange. £18.50 pm, £70 phone cost and more allowance of everything than I could possibly chew through. But 24mth contract.

    Hi

i have 3 mobiles and an ipad with orange - spend about £130 a month - What are the chances of getting an iphone 4s or even 5 on upgrade for around the same package that Three offers ?
  • Humph! I come out of my 18 month contract in 3 days and I've not had a single solitary call from Orange leading up to that.

I can only assume that I'm going to get a stinking deal if I call them up!

Just incase it helps anyone else. A retentions deal that a family member got recently from orange was:

    Samsung galaxy s3 LTE (titanuim) : £19.99

    2000 xnet minutes
    unlimited orange-orange calls
    unlimited texts
    unlimited data (incl tethering)
    £28.50 a month (24 month contract)
  • To get to Retentions do you guys use the freephone No: 0800 079 0272?
Some days you're the bird......and some days you're the statue
  • Right, I phoned Orange originally looking to improve my crappy contract (100 mins unlimited texts and 250mb for £20 per month) and get the new LG Optimus 4x hd. Its turns out Orange don't do LG anymore :( but Sharon was very good with improving my contract to 50 mins (don't even use 20 - Billy No-Mates) unlimited texts 1Gb 15 free photo messages and 2 free swapables for £15.50, much better, but the best phone I could get was either Sony Xperia T (£150 upfront) or HTC One X (£180 upfront). Told her I needed a day to think about it, I need to be just a day because my last payment comes out on the 8th and I don't want to start a new month (rolling contract) and change contract a few days into it.
I will also go to Carphone Warehouse because there I can get the LG I wanted for free with £20.50 contract (100mins unlimited texts and 500mb) not sure if I get any swapables or free photo messages though. I might be able to convince them to chuck in a free rubber case or something.
I really want a nice new phone now after having to put up with a painfully slow HTC Wildfire for 2 YEARS!!!!
Advice/opinion would be nice but you only have tonight/tomorrow morning before I go to Carphone Warehouse after work (afternoon). Chop chop :p
All contracts that I mention are 24 month.

You say that your last payment comes out on the 8th (tomorrow). Have you actually given your 30 days notice/ requested your PAC yet? Because if you haven't then I'm afraid to say you are going to be rolling over anyway.
