Uh-oh... hopefully the representative didn't BS me.
Thanks for the heads up just in case.
Just to warn people, this turned out to be BS, i thought it was too good to be true, it turns out it was the Iphone 46 plan with 10% off so £41.40 a month, and DIDNT include unlimited data or tethering, data was limited to 3gb.
I have cancelled the upgrade and requested my PAC codeListing debts to help keep my eyes on the prize
Discover - $0 (!!!) :T
AMEX - [STRIKE]$500.00[/STRIKE] $200.00 | BofA - [STRIKE]$3000.00[/STRIKE] $2000.00 | Capital One - [STRIKE]$2079.60[/STRIKE] $1745.00 | HSBC - $800.00 | Chase - $4000.00 (estimate) | Student loans (federal & private) - will likely be paying for life :mad:0 -
It's bizarre how Orange do unlimited data on iphones but nothing else. Why is that?0

I've currently got the Samsung S, and although the contract is £31 a month (magically increased from £27.50 mid-contract) my usual monthly spending is between £50 - £60.
I'm looking for the HTC One X. I've saw it going for £34 a month on buymobiles.net, 18 months, 900 mins, unlimited texts, 1GB internet, and the phone free.
Best Orange are offering on their website is the Panther 36 deal (free, 24 months, 600 mins, unlimited texts, 1GB internet, 2 swapables).
I was just going to try and get Orange to give me panther 36, but on a 18 month contract (I know that's more expensive and less mins than buymobiles.net deal, but I want the two free swapables orange are offering on panther 36). The buymobiles.net deal is with Orange anyway, but with no swapables.
Would that be a good deal, or would I be selling myself short? And how likely are they to give me a 24 month deal on an 18 month contract?
I don't think that deal is all that TBH.
I accepted an upgrade deal better than that, but after using the S3 for a short while, realised that I would use a lot more data then they were offering (1.5Gb) so I returned the upgrade.
When the return had been processed, I asked for my PAC Code and they improved their offer to
Free S3,
unlimited minutes and texts, 1.5Gb data
3Gb BT Wi-Fi (formerly BT Openzone)
1 swappable
£23.50 + £6 insurance.
However I've returned the upgrade again because Virgin Mobile are offering me a deal as a Virgin Media customer. With insurance it works out at only £6 more for unlimited everything.
Having looked into it, the widespread opinion is that BT Wi-Fi is pretty poor and no substitute for unlimited data. You only get the BT-Wi Fi (formerly BT Openzone) hotspots anyway and not the far more extensive BT-Fon Openzone.
I was also swayed by the stupendous retention deal I negotiated for my mother with Virgin Mobile
Galaxy Ace Plus £20
2500 minutes, unlimited texts unlimited data, insurance included
£13, which makes the price without insurance £5.
Of course they'll probably have tightened up their retentions in two years when I'm eligible, but you never know.
As for the contract length, the regulator has ruled that networks have to give you even a 12 month contract if you ask, but deals less than 24 months are usually priced very unattractively for obvious reasons.0 -
Just took a retention deal with orange. £13.50/month for a Galaxy S2. 500mins, 500mb and unlimited texts - 24 months.0

That's a really good deal. Well done :-)0

My wife has been on Orange for about 20 years and probably pays around £50 a month. She is just out of contract, so I plan to try and get a deal out of Orange, but unfortunately she wants an iphone 5, so I assume deals will be more or less non-existent.
Some things she must have:
>1000 mins
>500 texts
>500 MB data
Some things she might like:
inclusive 0845/0870
Free itemised billing
Wifi
More data
Free tethering
Other
I am on a 30-day SIM only with another network, but am thinking of getting a subsidised S2 or S3. Could I get some kind of deal on that via my wife's "loyalty points" with Orange?
I'm also curious to discover what sort of pricing we will see on LTE plans if Orange are able to launch soon, but I suppose we will just have to wait and see on that.
So, what should I ask for/expect from Orange? Are iphone-5 deals just take-it-or-leave-it? Can I tie myself in to the deal, considering I'd like an Android phone, and deals may presumably be more forthcoming on those?
Edit: ... or how about waiting a few months for prices to come down a bit on the iphone 5? Would Orange offer to drop my wife's monthly cost, say to £20/mth for 6 months (for e.g. 1000 mins, 750 MB data, unlimited texts)? Would this affect her loyalty bonus when she did eventually want to upgrade?0 -
