Comments
-
I phoned Orange and they couldnt offer me what I wanted so asked for my pac number which I received with a letter asking me to call as they could offer me a better offer.
Got for £26.20 a month.
Free Samsung Galaxy S2 in white
800 mins
Unlimited texts
Unlimited data
50 pic messages
Very happy with this as they wouldnt budge from £31 before.0 -
How do you get retention? Is this like for people due upgrades?
If upgrades dont give you a good deal ask to be put through to retentions, if that still doesnt get you the deal ask for your pac number and give your months notice. I got a letter asking me to stay and they would give me a better deal which they have.0 -
i am 2 days away from the end of my contract - unsure if i want to upgrade of leave and go to giffgaff with my iphone 3 while saving for an unlocked iphone 4S as I need to cut back my outgoings
the alternative is to see if I can get a good deal on the galaxy S2 or a really cheap deal on a galaxy ace (to give to my daughter as her San Francisco has a smashed screen) and then continue to use my iphone 3 with the new contract until i have saved enough to buy a iphone 4S.
confused yet I know i am !
I am a light user my highest usage over the last year has been 101 minutes, 208 texts and 150mb data so I am aiming to get 150 minutes 250 texts and 250 data .
Just got off the phone with orange retention's , trying to get a good deal on a galaxy s2
First offer was free phone, 400 minutes, unltd txts , 750mb data , free wifi, magic number and 2 swapables for £28pm
I Told him I didn't need so many minutes texts or data and wasn't interested in the swapables and wanted to pay no more than £20 and the best he could come back with was the same but paying £30 for the phone and £26 pm
he then tried to talk me into a galaxy advance ( which i know nothing about ) same tariff and £23 a month
the reason he gave is because I have been on an iphone tariff he is unable to give me a better deal .. !!!!!! !!! i pay more for the iphone tariff then pay more for an android because I've been on an iphone tariff .

you can get a £18/month deal for the Galaxy S2 on Talkmobile with 300 mins, loads of texts and plenty data. I'm going to get OH to use that to bargain with Orange when she phones up next week about her upgrade.
Tell them S2 is now obsolete0 -
had the same story from phones4u too not available at less than £26 a month .
gonna stick my iphone 3g on giff gaff and wait for a better dealI am journeying to a debt-free life.

did you try asking about going sim only?
Or ask about any deal with the numnber of minutes, texts and internet you require - when I did my last upgrade I ended up with a base model LG smart phone which was £5 a month cheaper than sim only for the same mins etc.0 -
I'm drawing a blank , asked about the galaxy ace (which my daughter likes) and couldn't get that below £20 a month even though they are offering it for 15.50 to new customers and 10.50 if you take out home broadband .. i don't know what i'm doing wrongI am journeying to a debt-free life.

Did you ask what the best deal they would do without a phone?
Also did you actually ask for your PAC? I know you said you phoned to ask for it but if you haven't had it issued yet then I'd get that done. If it still doesn't provoke any decent deals then you will need it to port your number anyway.0 -
yes the best they would offer is £15 a month on a 1 month rolling sim only , I have my PAC now , will give it a few days to see if i get anything else - I need to get my phone unlocked before I switch anyway so won;t be rushing into it .I am journeying to a debt-free life.
