There is no point in staying with Orange. T-Mobile and Orange now have a full network share with smart share, so its pointless if T-Mobile works out cheaper.

Sorry to sound slow, what do you mean by smart share?

Do you think jumping ship completely is a better option?

Not that impressive considering you can get 300 mins unlimited sms and 250 internet on T-mobile for £7.50 and £25 cashback if you use quidco.

I will be upgrading in a couple of months time and this offer seems quite tempting. I don't know if I can pac from Orange to T-Mobile given that they are now one but I will not be telling Orange that when I ask for it.
Currently I am on 600 mins and have 500GB data. I have a Desire from my last upgrade and consequently am happy to keep using it for another year or two so won't be asking for a new phone. I am going to try it on with them though by asking for my monthly bill to be knocked down to about £5 from it's current amount of £23.xx.
Does anyone think there is any chance at all of Orange going even close to this figure?

You can easily port from Orange to T-mobile, but I think T-mobile don't offer £7.50 tariff any more. Talkmobile offer 300+1000+500 for 6x£8 with £30 TCB cashback available.

With smart share. Your phone just picks up the best signal. So doesn't really matter if your on Orange or T-Mobile. You will have the same signal.
  • I called Orange through main call centre route yesterday as I am out of contract on 5th May -

    Current Deal:
    200 mins, 300 texts, 250 mb, 30 picture messages, £15p/m +free Sony Elm - 24 months

I spoke to bloke yesterday - got to point where he offered same deal for £10.98 with free Nokia Lumia 710 or Samsung Galaxy Ace. Said I'd think about it - he rang me again today - let him ring a couple of times then answered and discussed further.

Out of interest but not expecting anything I asked about Nokia Lumia 800 after getting an idea of the sort of phone I could get for current spend of £15 - he started at £20 plus £39 for phone - told him I don't pay for contract and for phone - immediately reduced to £15 no extra cost for phone. Said I 'd have to think about it as not sure extra £4 month worth it - and apologised if I was wasting his time! He said he was prepared to phone again in order that I got right deal that I was happy with!

He then finally offered Lumia 800 for free at £10.98/mth for 200/300/250 deal over 24 months.

Appreciate this is nowhere the level of usage that others have posted but it's at least £10 cheaper than the most basic tariff for Lumia 800 I've seen anywhere else. I've only been with them for 4 years and not spent that much so would only suggest to persevere and be polite - as I wasn't expecting that sort of deal at all.

    Thanks in advance

Sounds like a reasonable deal to me - provided its got enough minutes etc for you. Total cost over the 2 years is approx £264 which looks a lot cheaper than buying the phone sim free.

Hi People. My friends contract has just come to an end and she was paying £25 for 600 mins, unlimited texts and blackberry service.

She'd ideally like a new BB phone with the same mins and texts.

Any ideas what kind of package/deal she should be pushing for?
  • Just got off the phone to Darlington.

I'd called them yesterday and had round 1 telling them how I was going to join Tescomobile for £17.50 sim only, how the Orange signal was still bad in places, how 3 "all you could eat" was better for data, blah, blah, blah.

    Was on £31 pm,HTC Mozart 18 months,1000 xnet mins,750 txts,unlim landlines,750 MB net.

They offered to stay at £31,
    new Samsung SII "Quicktap UMA",
    800 xnet mins,
    1500(!!) txts,
    unlim landlines,
    1GB net.

So I told them I'd think about it.......... But was always going to accept.

I'm WELL pleased with that deal.

Also the HTC Mozart I'm currently on was new on insurance only 2 months ago,(charging cable socket packed up) so its off to EBAY with that too !!!! :j

My contract runs out 8th June.

Currently pay £25ish a month, 600 mins, unlimited text, 500mb internet and got free HTC Desire. That was an 18 month contract.

Called them today, told them ideally I want another HTC as it's been the only phone in the last few years that hasn't gone wrong. Offered me the HTC One S for £36 on a 24 month contract.

Only phones they could offer me for around the same price I'm paying now on an 18 month contract was the HTC Wildfire S, which I'm sure was out when I was upgrading last time round.

How is best to play it?? Will the deals get better closer to my contract end date? I did ask to cancel the contract but can't do that til 8th May apparently.

I aren't particularly bothered about staying with Orange. My phone at the minute is okay so I am considering going Sim Only til something better comes up, although a new phone would be nice.

    Hello,

My current 24 month contract with Orange expires in July.
I'm at my wit's end with my phone at the moment, a Samsung Galaxy Apollo - it constantly freezes, and if turned off and on again it will re-send texts at random, costing me money! I also regularly exceed my tariff at the moment which is proving costly.

I'm thinking of ringing Orange Retentions but I'm not sure whether they will be able to make me an offer with my contract still having a few months to run. I have always been an Orange customer although I don't think they will care!

A friend mentioned Phones4U might be able to upgrade me but they said it was too long till the end of my contract. Does anyone know whether Orange Retentions would make me an offer, or would they tell me I need to wait? If they can't make me an offer, would I be able to cancel my contract without buying it out?

I can't put up with this phone much longer!

    Thanks.
