Orange Retention Offers

Having been witrh orange for 10 years (which counts for nothing ).i was really !!!!ed off when they put the price up on my contract in january and had decided to go to tesco 's 12.50 p.month sim only deal .So i thought i will sit back and see how signicant i was as a customer to orange or not as the case may be. (my spending average is 53 per month )
I have waited until the last month of my contract before contacting them, however i have looked at upgrade options via my online account before and have little doubt they have that information should they need or want to look at it .
i called a few days ago and asked for a pac code ,the guy on the other end asked if he could compete ,i told him i was going to tescos 12.50 pmonth sim only and he offered me £10 per month for 400 mins unlimited txt ,1.5 gb of data . (my last bill had a large data component from overseas so ,perhaps he thought the 1.5gb would rattle my chain )
i said if i wanted a phone on monthly what would it be and he said he could do an S2 for 26 pm and 400 mins ,1gb data and ulimited txts 2 add ons . i thanked him but said no not good enough as i am happy with my current phone an old 1st gen desire what does everything i want .
we left it there and immediately a orange txt arrived asking for comment on service and the last question was what could the operative done to bring the call to a more satisfactory conclusion .?
i replied with spend more time finding out what the customer wants and tailor the deal to suit ,
The next day i recieved a call from a guy who sounded like the guy i spoke to before .He asked if he could do anything to keep my business ,i replied ok what are you offering on an S2 the only tangeable offer he made was a 2 year contract 26 p.month 600 mins ul txts and 1 gig data .i told him i definately will not be entering a 2 year contract with a company who can vary its contract according to the economic conditions and the client cant .
He tried to stress the fact i can keep the same number which i found comical as you do that via the pac code anyway .
Thats where we stand at moment ,as i am genuingly not bothered about staying with them its an interesting exercise to see how far they will go to keep me ,(if at all)
will let you know the results and progress over the next 30 days

Well the level of disinterest in keeping customers is tangible ,i called to confirm my pack number expecting an attempt at reaching a deal ,but the most they could or would offer is the online published deal .
So i bought myself a Galaxy S2 for 250 quid on ebay ( an orange upgrade) funinily enough .I then took up the TESCO phone sim only deal of 750 minutes any network ,5000 txts per month and 1 gb of data for 12-50pm inc vat. i have capped the account so i got no chance of over spend .
The service is via 02 and i have to say i am very happy ,the data is far more rapid that i got from orange .
So bye to orange after 11 years ,you have no one to blame but but your own uncompetetivness and the disinterest of your "loyalty" team . I am now a happy customer of Tesco and a walking advert ..0 -
Rang up Orange to get my PAC to transfer to a cheaper deal with the white Samsung Galaxy S2 phone, online upgrade option was £31/month. I was out of contract and had a deal with O2 in mind which offered free phone, 200mins, unlimited texts and 500MB data for £21.50 per month through phones4u. They asked why I was leaving & if they could try to beat the offer. Was offered free galaxy s2, 200mins, unlimited texts, 1.5GB data and free wifi for £20.50 per month. Think I could have bargained for more minutes however this aspect isn’t that important to me & it was the data I wanted. Usually don’t have much luck with upgrades/retentions however I was pleased with this one. Total cost £492 over the 24months.Win £2008 in 2008 member no.168!0

Good on you ssilvo. I will be in a very similar position as you were come the end of March. Happy with my handset and only need a sim with lots of minutes and texts - not even bothered about data. It's a toss up over Tesco Mobile or one of the GIFGAFF deals. Out of interest, what made you go with Tesco Mobile in the end?0 -

Rexxy, phoned them yesterday. No joy whatsoever. Wanted deal similar to yours and would have bitten their hand off. Worth trying again? Number to ring for retentions? Good luck with your deal. Galaxy S2 great phone. Want deal from Orange for daughters phone0 -
Does anyone know how Orange values it's customers when it comes to "upgrade" time?
Is a customers "worth" simply based on the amount of money that they spend, or is it also based on how much money the network earns from termination rates?
Just wondering as I travel quite a lot for work, and rather than divert my landline to my business mobile, I could divert it to my personal one instead and maybe use it to my advantage.
Just a thought anyway...anyone got any idea?
Cheers,

It has probably been bettered, but I'm happy with the deal I got today. Rang up to ask how to go about changing my contract to payg in order to save money, as my contract ended 3 days ago.
Got offered and accepted:
Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray
200 minutes
Unlimited Texts
30 Picture Texts
1gb data
for £15.50pm.0 -
They didn't even attempt to match an offer for me today... Sony Xperia S from Phones4U on one of their OWN tariffs for £26/month for 24 months, they couldn't go lower than £32... so called back and said "can I cancel?"
"yeah sure, all done sorry we couldn't match"
Well done on retentions... gonna go order the O2 £27 a month one with £100 cashback from Quidco... the bonus is I get it in white
PS Cashback ends in 12 hours! Great deal, works out £23/month with O2 - 300min, 3000 text, 500M data and free wifi.0 -
Great deal on Orange for my iphone, very happy.
Just come to the end of a 2 year iphone contract at £37 per month. They offered me Dolphin 7 for £7 per month!
PS: Why is this offer not on the main iphone page? There is other similar sim-only deals for when you own the phone, on that page! Nearly went for a more expensive £10 or £12.50 one!!0
