Orange Retention Offers

i was wondering what the new rule on that was
so as long as they offer just a sim contract only that means theyve covered themselves?
Yup. They have to offer 12 month contracts, but obviously even the EU can't tell them what phones to offer and at what price.
So as long as they offer some kind of 12 month deal they're compiling with the ruling.
It clearly not viable to offer the very latest smartphone on a 12 month contact. The cost would be far too high (unless you're one of people that I've spoken to who think the phones really are free and there's no cost to anyone anywhere along the supply chain!).0 -
yeah i see what theyre getting at
of course everyone should have the choice but yes the phone price would be extortinate
i used to get 12 month contracts but am quite haoppy with my phone right now so 18 months doesnt seem too bad
askme again in a few months though lolWhat goes around-comes around0 -
End of 18 month contract.
I spoke to orange and was put through to retnetions
I was offered a new
2 year contract
unlimited texts(3000),
500 mb data per month
600 Min call per month
30 Photo Messages per month,
On Panther 35 reduced to £25
I was happy until they told me that they wanted £50 for a Galaxy S2.:(
I had already looked around and had seen a free htc Sensation on Orange 30 that was reduced doen to £25 a month.
I explained this and they said they could not compete. I asked to cancel my contract and I now have a htc sensation on a new contract and new number.:)
And yes I am still withOrange though through a third party supplier

I phoned Orange a month before my contract end date and was offered the following:
Samsung Ace free
2200 x-net minutes
unlimited landline
500mb web
£25.85 pm (18month contact)
My contract has now ended and I called today to take up the offer and was told it was nolonger available as they could not offer such discounts
The new deal would be the same as above but for £30.85
Anyone have an idea why this may have happened?0 -
you usually have to take up their offer on the day i think dont think they hold it for youWhat goes around-comes around0

As above.
Offers change weekly, if not daily and anything they offer you is valid for 24 hours as a rule. After a month you've no chance at all, sorry.0 -
So is it worth me ringing back again? How long should I leave it, a week?0
-
As a rule you should get a better offer now you're out of contract. I'd call them as soon as you can.0

Samsung Galaxy S2 was back in stock this morning so plunged for the following:
SII phone cost £244
200 min
Unlimited text
500 mb data
£10/month
18 months contract
Not the best deal judging by some other posts but I'm very light spender with Orange, average £11/month for the last two years...
HTC Sensation was £236, Experia Play £257 (:wall:) and Motorola Atrix £228 if I wanted them on the same deal.
I will come back in 18 months now :A0 -
Reading the OP was quite funny. 10MB of data, oh wow0
