Orange Retention Offers

My HTC decided to start acting slow and unresponsive to the point of the sensor not doing anything when I put my finger on it to put in my password pattern. I am 3 weeks into my upgrade period, but the need for a phone has forced the issue so I just spoke to Orange and Carphone Warehouse.
Orange:
iPhone4 16gb white
£69.99 up front cost
£35 a month
600 minutes
unlimited texts
500MB data
Orange Maps and 50 photo messaging
CPW:
iPhone4 16gb white
£0.00 up front cost
£35 a month
600 minutes
unlimited texts
500MB data
Orange Maps and 50 photo messaging
Can't believe that CPW offered a better deal than Orange on the same account to upgrade! I am going to sleep on it for the weekend to decide whether to take up that offer
Thanks for posting this - I'm a month into my upgrade period and a month away from cancellation. My Tocco touchscreen has failed and I need a new phone. I've been with Orange for 6 years (and 4 phones!)
I rang and was told I could not cancel my contract without exit charges. The Orange CS was less than helpful - no offer of upgrade or anything.
I'd like an Iphone now and there are a few good deals floating about - I like the look of your CPW one in particular.
Any tips or ideas of how to get an Iphone for free @ £35 a month? Am I better off cancelling my contract and shopping elsewhere (thereby gaining cashback too)?
TIA CC xx0 -
my sister is after an iphone4 shes out of contract what are her chances of her getting it free on 18 mths do u think?

Hi,
Last week I called up asking for my PAC code etc, and eventually got an offer of :
£25 a month, 18 months, 600 mins, unlimited texts, 750 mb data and a galaxy s2 I had to pay £49.99 for.
Stupidly, I said I'd have a think and call back, so they said they'd save it on file. The next day when I called back to accept, it was out of stock. Just got off the phone to them now and the rep was convinced that there as no way I would have been offered that on my current usage.
I'm not lying to them, I was 100% definitely offered that and the new offer the guy gave me wasn't really even close to that.
Should I phone back later at some point and try again or is that it? I just missed the boat? So frustrating!0 -
CentaurAndrew, that sounds like an incredible deal.
I called orange again this morning because I'd received a "sorry you're leaving orange" letter (which said my pac code was on page 2, and any final charges would be spelled out on page 3 - of course there was only page 1 in the envelope!) and they promised they could offer me "unbeatable" offers.
Turns out they can't beat talkmobile, so I'm off to them. Lesson: loyalty does not pay.0 -

I found phones4u and CPW offered the same deal, for vodafone as well IIRC. Just ring up CPW telesales and say your thinking of upgrading, and mention the deal on CPW's website and that should do the trick. Throw in that phones4u offer the same deal as well if they don't nudgeThe only downside is the 24 month contract but it was a too tempting deal when I spotted it on the website

I was quite surprised when the sales girl did that! She mentioned that quite a few orange customers have been doing this. I also confirmed that the phones themselves are brand new, and not refurbished as I have read on some offers.0 -

£15 per month for 24 months.
I reckon I could sell the phone and cover the cost of my bills for the next two years! (Quite happy with my N900 at the moment).
How on earth did you get that?? I'm at the end of my Orange contract now, I'm paying £30 a month for my HTC hero, I'd like to get an HTC sensation, best deal I can find online for my needs is £25 per month, 500 mins 500mb with a £50 quidco so it would be £550 over the 24 months. I'm going to ring up to cancel tonight so was wondering how far you think I should go and what you think I could get. not too bothered about talk minutes 300 would be enough, my priority would be data as I'm sure in two years time I'll be using more than now.
Also I saw on Citizen's Advice site (first para) that they HAD to offer you a 12 month contract, I imagine they can just offer you a good 24 month and a rip off 12 or do they have to be the same?0 -
There are no rules about 12 months contracts, they just have to offer them.
The cost of the phone still has to be covered, and you've got less time to pay for it so the monthly price is going to much higher (if they even offer you the latest phone with a 12 month deal).
Most 12 month plans I've seen are sim only, which fulfils their need to offer them. . .0 -
i was wondering what the new rule on that was
so as long as they offer just a sim contract only that means theyve covered themselves? What goes around-comes around0
