I was offered galaxy s2 on 24 month contract
    Free Phone
    800 xnet mins
    unlimited texts
    1gb internet
    £27 a month

27 x 24 months is £648 considering the phone sim free is £400-£500 even with the lower cost of 400 - £648 minus 400 = £248 divide that by 24 for monthy cost of 10.33 don't think i could beat that even if i took out a sim only deal!

Hi that looks like a good deal, but i wanted to ask what your initial monthly cost was? and was that also over 24 months?

Was this also your first effort at upgrading, as i am due to give it a go very soon, but am waiting for htc sensation to be released on orange before i do.

    Thanks

I am well chuffed with the deal I've just got!

    Free S2
    400 mins
    UL Texts
    UL landline
    500 mb
    £20 per month

Not in stock at the moment but the deal has been saved, have to ring back on monday. Completely suits my needs as I only ever really phone landline. Previously had unlimited texts, 200 minutes and 500 mb, never went over, average spend about £20 per month. Well pleased!
  • Currently on a Panther 30 Websave 18 month contract (330 mins and 400 texts pcm - basic costs £25 pcm) with a Blackberry 9700 which will expire next month. I tend to incur only a few pounds of charges above this, although last month's bill was £75+ so as far as my plan goes I'm also pretty happy.

I haven't spoke to anyone about renewing/ extending my contract as I've read it's better to wait until your contract has actually expired before doing so. I'm also pretty happy with the Blackberry and would be pleased to stay with that brand, although would consider an iPhone 4, HTC Sensation or Samsung Galaxy 2 as alternatives. In an ideal world I would hold off and wait for the Blackberry Bold Touch which looks like being released in September but I'm a bit impatient.

What would be the chances in getting a reasonable monthly reduction in my contract cost along with one of the above noted phones for free/minimal outlay? I would potentially take a Blackberry 9780, due to the similarity with the 9700, bit I'm aware this is now an older handset and will be replaced but the new Blackberry range in a couple of months.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

I'm in my upgrade period ( I also have a 9700) but I'm going to wait until the new devices are released. Have you seen the new full screen touch blackberry?

Hi, yes 24 month contract, on my first phone call, but i'm going to push for it over 18 on monday (when stock is due back in) i'm not sure what the initial monthly cost was. i've never had any joy of getting any better deals when i've phoned orange back for a second try at getting a better deal, they've always told me how much discount i've got and that you can either use it for discounting your phone and if i've got any left to play with they take it off your monthly bill or add extra mins ect. i know they work your discount over your last 3 bills and i'd got a discount of something over £450. (orange have discount bands they put you into dependant on monthly spend or they did the last time i upgraded anyhow) Over the last few upgrades i've had i've found it better for me to let my old contract lapse loosing the £10 odd automatic discounts they'd applied to my account putting up my next 3 months bills but saving me more over the next 18 month contract period.

I've seen the Bold Touch (9900/9930) and also the 9860 (the touchscreen one?) but have only heard the proposed release date for the Bold Touch (sometime in September).

My thought is that Orange will be actively trying to clear 9780's and Torch's ahead of the launch of the new devices and there may be some good deals to be had. I reckon the Bold Touch will be a big launch unit too and don't want to get chinned for a an expensive handset and would be slightly sceptical about getting a deal on one.

    Decisions, decisions...

just a quick word of warning about orange, I rang back today to see if the S2 was in stock and was advised it wouldn't be until friday, which i accepted. I then asked about the deal I was offered, making sure it was still saved on the system like I was advised. The lady on the phone told me that there was no record of anything saved and no reference to any call on the day I made it. I quoted the name and extension number of the person I spoke to, only to be told, after a short period on hold, that the extension number did not match anything at their end. At this point, I asked if the deal would remain honoured, to be told that as nothing was saved it could not be. I was offered the same deal for £25 per month inclusive of VAT and a cost of £1 for the S2, rather than the free phone and £20 which I was quoted, which for me is still pretty good. However I am appalled that a customer service rep effectively lied to me and spun a fantasy deal that could not possibly be done on the Orange computers!

    Hey,
I have just given up on hold to speak to the Orange manager
My contract is up for renewal on 2/8 but I was contacted to upgrade while at work. I said I would think about it and get back to them. I checked online and the website implies the iphone 4 is free with all contracts when you log in and try to upgrade. When I called to check, as I am going phone deal shopping tomorrow, I was told that was an error on the site and it had been reported but they cannot honour the online misrepresentation. I asked to speak to the manager but gave up after 20 mins.
I am less than impressed! Not sure I really want to stay with Orange, since it seems they do not value their customers even after 8 loyal years.
    There, rant over .....

I just checked my ebills for the last few months (lax I know) to find out that when my contract ended, so did my "bonus" bits such as free internet and 200 extra minutes. Therefore I have been charged a fortune for the data (£30 per month for 30Mb).
Called Orange and the CS rep was fantastic. He spotted that this had happened and credited the money back to my account straight away. He also asked if I would like to speak to retentions about another contract.
Long story but I was offered.

    Samsung Galaxy s2 - Free
    400 minutes
    400 texts
    Unlimited landlines
    500Mb
    £20 per month.

I was also offered the same deal but with HTC Desire HD free for £17.50 per month.

Currently awaiting my S2 with anticipation !!
