Quick Question folks
Has anyone asked Orange retentions/ renwells about getting the HTC Sensation or the HTC Incredibale S?
They look liek the ebst Likely candidate for my next phone and I wondered if anyone had got one and what deal they got?0 -
Just been looking through this, has everyone successfully cancelled the insurance?
Been chatting to them today and have been offered:
400 minutes
unlimited texts
500mb internet
£7.50 a month for a Wildfire S
or £13.50 a month for a Desire with 'free' orange care.
If I can cancel the insurance its the same deal and whilst the Desire is older its faster and better than the Wildfire I understand?
I only need a fairly basic phone so the Wildfire S would be fine but if I can get the Desire for the same price it would seem rude not to!0 -

The cpu in the Desire is 1 gig, the cpu in the Wildfire used to 625 meg. Not sure of the S?
The insurance will be on your acc as a zero cost item so cancelling it won't bring you total bill down by anything. . .0 -
You can't have insurance as a zero cost item, it costs £6 and they add a £6 discount making it 'free', if you cancel the insurance you still keep the original discount0

Not if the systems working right it won't (mind you, when has CSS every worked right!).
The item and the discount 'should' be linked, removing one should also remove the other, or at the least flag up the CSR that it needs removing. . .0 -
I cancelled my insurance and kept my discount, I asked the CSR to confirm this a few times, if I've lost my discount I'll be phoning back and kicking up a fuss0

If you've cancelled an item you didn't get changed for, what grounds can you complain ? The discount was to cover the insurance, if you cancel the insurance you also cancel the discount.0 -

I could complain because when I cancelled the insurance I asked the guy if I'd save £6 a month he said 'yes, this will bring your price down to £7.50 a month' or words to that effect.
I'll have to wait for my next bill and see what it says0 -
I managed to get a very good deal out of Orange's retentions team with a Galaxy S2:
Free Galaxy S2
600 mins
unlimited texts
500mb internet
usb internet dongle with 500mb allowance
for £15 a month on a 24 month contract.
I've traditionally been really bad with retentions teams with mobile providers (especially 3!) but after having read all the comments here I thought I would have a go- this was my first attempt negotiating with Orange.
My contract was originally 300 mins 500 texts and 500mb internet for £15 a month (£25 minus a £10 indirect discount). I'm actually a very low spending user and hardly go above £15 a month.
I called Orange and spoke to a very polite gentleman called Steven and said that I wanted to leave because I was aware that my £10 discount would vanish from next month. After being put on hold for a few moments, he came back to me and offered the 600 mins deal if I took out a 24 month contract. I then said that I was interested in changing my phone to a galaxy s2 (and was expecting a ridiculous price) but he said it was free. I couldn't really believe what I was being told and then repeated the deal and he confirmed it. He then went onto ask if I was interested in home broadband but I said I was moving in a few months so it wasn't applicable to me, so he offered a free dongle at no extra cost with a 500 mb allowance for 12 months. I repeated the whole deal again (thinking there must be a catch somewhere) and he confirmed it. The only bad thing was that the S2 was out of stock. I got a call later on during the day and it was Steven again, asking if I was okay to receive the delivery on Monday, as it was back in stock and then was put through to their sales team for the dongle.
The phone should be coming on Monday so looking forward to that and at the same time I'm curious to find out it there is indeed a catch somewhere because this deal seemed really good, especially since I'm not a high spending user.
I would recommend calling the retentions team early in the morning (I called at 8.30)- this way you don't have to wait long to get through and hopefully you would get through to the same person I got through to because he was fantastic.
Looking back now, I should have pushed for a lower monthly line rental as I didn't really haggle when I called.0
