  • I called retentions and upgrade a few times this week. I've been with Orange for 6 years and have been out of contract for a couple of months now as ive been waiting for a decent deal. So i called today and requested my pac code.

I'm currently paying £32 for 600 min and u/l texts. I asked for deals around £25 for the HTC Incredible S or Desire S. Got told the best they could do was £35, 500 min, 500mb and u/l text. I said t mobile are offering a similar deal at £25 and i was actually told to go there!!

I'm really disappointed in Orange. The guy said for my last upgrade i was offered a £10 reduction to the monthly contract for being loyal and as a result i was not eligible for a discount this time around. I've called so many times for a better deal so i guess i have no choice but to leave now.

    Advice sought please:

Currently an Orange iPhone customer paying £45 pm for 1200 mins, 500 texts and unlimited Internet, contract ends 26 Aug 2011.

Retentions have offerred £50 payment to buy out remaining contract and £35 pm for 2200 minutes, unlimited texts and 5000MB Internet with free Desire S for a 24 month contract.

I am a band 5 customer - surely I can do better than this?

You didn't speak to retentions. You can't speak to retentions before you're contract is up (if you call up in the 3 month upgrade period, they know you're not looking to move network).

You have a 3 month upgrade period at the end of a 24 month contract, if you call back in 6 days, you'll probably get more naff offers, but without the £50 charge.

    Seems a really good deal!

Can anyone see any catches with this deal, ie re-conditioned phone etc??

yeah but they're offering !!!! deals, well at least they did to me. They said all they could do was £35 a month for a £24 month contract if i wanted a free phone. That was when talking to the cancellations department.

So basically they wouldn't offer me any discount at all even though i said you can get it for £25 a month on tmobile through affordablemobiles.co.uk

So I got sick of waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S2 and went for the Desire S instead, the operator was shocked that my average use was only 22 minutes per month, I got:

    A free Desire S
    400 X net minutes
    Unlimited texts
    1.5GB of internet including wifi
    50 MMS per month
    Free Orange Care
    24 month contract
    £13.50 a month

    I'm happy with this
