My contract due to end 31/05. Phoned up today and just upgraded:

    HTC Desire S - £36

    18 months - £26.42 per month
    400 mins
    300 txt
    Unlimited Landline
    1GB Data
    18 months insurance

    Good deal?

I was also offered £20/month for 24 months (Free HTC Desire S, 200 mins, 1GB data, 300 txt) but didn't want to tide up to 24 months.
Not bad for an 18 month deal, but if you can live with the 200mins, you would be much better off taking the 24month deal (18 months at £6.42/m extra=£115.56. Add in the £36 cost of phone, makes £151.56. The extra 6 months at £20 is just £120), so you would actually SAVE £31.56 AND have an extra 6 months line rental covered, so as a moneysaver, this seems much better. Any reason why you are against the 24 month contract?

That's very true. I did think about the 24 months deal as 200 mins would actually be enough for me given it also comes with unlimited landline. I guess the reason I went with the 18 months deal is that I am always "deluded" to that I get "bored" with a phone when reached about 12 months. So an extra 6 months would seems too long.

Not really a MoneySavingExpert deal, but rather a self satisfying one. :p

Now that, I understand...may the Lord bless a well know auction site, where my taste for a change of phones can be satisfied ;)

    Verrry nice deal, enjoy :j
  • I think you need to know how many minutes you need and what phone you want, what features will you use first to find out what is good deal. Personally i would never get a blackberry because of lack of applications.

I will use all the minutes as i use 600 or slightly under at the minute, they have offered it to me for 20 a month, i like blackberrys as I have one at the minute.

Do you think this is a good deal for 20 a month?

    thanks for your answers

If you like Blackberrys, then yes, this is a pretty good offer for the minutes you get. I have found a deal for new customers at £17odd for 500 mins, with additional cashback available from Quidco/Greasypalm etc, so if this was an upgrade deal rather than retentions, you may be able to squeeze a little more from them, but if you are happy with the deal as is, then go for it, and enjoy the deal and your new phone :)

I rung upgrades and was told the Desire S isn't available until mid May. She told me to ring back at the end of May, beginning of June before I'd get the Desire S!
