just been onto upgrades, that took me two hours so no time for retentions today...:D

    got 2 contracts

    been offered

nokia c3 touch n type free
    500 mins
    free landlines
    100 texts.
£10 per month, these allowances are well above actual usage.

    desire hd £99
    1200 mins
    free landlines
    500 texts
    500mb internet
    £25 per month

can i do any better,i saw the post where someone got desire hd free on 17.50 a month and someone said that wasnt a great deal, but it sounds ok to me.

    what are peoples thoughts.

On the desire HD I think you could do better. On the C3 deal also you could get a better phone.. So try retentions and see what you get offered!
  • Hi everyone,

Ive just got off the phone with Orange retentions for the 5th time and want to know what you all think to what they have offered me. I think its good but can I push for more?

    They offered:
    - 800 Xnet Minutes
    - Unlimited Texts
    - Unlimited Landline Calls
    - 500mb Internet
    - 24 months Insurance
    - Samsung Omnia 7
    - £23.86 per month for 24 months

Is that enough Internet in your opinion? Could I push for more?

    Thanks for your opinions. :D

I think its a good deal considering you have insurance also included. You could push a bit more on the line rental, but the deal to me sounds like a nice one!

the c3 option was simply because she likes that phone(unless theres a better recomendation with similar ease of use),wants nothing too complicated, the desire hd yes i want better after some looking around.

how do you actually get straight through to retentions i coulndt find it in options?

On the upgrades, there is an option for 'Thinking of Leaving Orange'. Thats retentions. I think on the Mobiles menu, Option 4 is for upgrades and then in that Option 2 for retentions.
Otherwise if you ask for your PAC code on the upgrades line, they would forward you to retentions.

I got offered the htc desire hd on 600 minutes, unlimited texts, 500gb internet plus email for £22.98 on 18 months or with 900 minutes on 24 months for £17.87

I also got offered the samsung galaxy s on the same terms for £20.43 on 18 months or £15.31 over 24 months.

Don't know what to do now! I think these are okay deals, and I have only been with Orange for 12 months. I tried for free insurance but the bloke said they can't give it anymore, something to do with the fsa getting involved and customers not having been given the correct cover?

May call back tomorrow to try and up the data allowence, but have never used that much on my hero so presume I won't use any more on these.

Considering you have been with Orange for only 12 months, these seem to be nice deals..Desire HD is the one to go for!
  • The thing I don't get with all this retentions business is how they seem to offer those who tend to overspend the best phones on the lowest monthly tarriffs (fair enough) BUT also offer them a load of minutes and unlimited texts, which surely puts many of them beyond the risk of overspending anymore.

So just as an example, Orange offer:

    Free Desire HD
    1000 mins
    UL landlines
    UL texts
    UL/500mb data
    24 month contract
    £17.50 per month.

Surely by making an offer like this Orange are basically giving away a high end phone and making no more than £17.50 per month?
