Orange Retention Offers

So just as an example, Orange offer:
Free Desire HD
1000 mins
UL landlines
UL texts
UL/500mb data
24 month contract
£17.50 per month.
Surely by making an offer like this Orange are basically giving away a high end phone and making no more than £17.50 per month?
I have to agree with you. Ive been over a lot in my contracts Ive had with Orange and what they're offering me would allow me not to go over. I like it, but it just doesn't make sense like you say. I must admit tho, you have a damn good offer there in my opinion. I thought my offer I got yesterday was good but you seem to be getting more minutes for less. I'm impressed for that money, especially with the Desire HD.0 -

Orange or rather all Mobile companies are unpredictable as far as my understanding goes. I am a low user (10£ pm) and this time around, they extended my contract at the same amount but offered me more minutes and internet (which was not there earlier) and charged me for the phone (155.99 for Desire HD on a 10£pm contract). I took it as it was a nice deal for me..0 -

What I cited above was just an example of what somebody might be offered, taking into account what I've read on this thread. I wish my offer was anywhere near that
I can only think that those like yourself, who will no longer go over their monthly limits, will struggle to get a decent offer next time round.0 -

Yours was indeed an excellent deal. I struggle to see them offering you anything decent next time round though if you're spending no more than £10 per month?0 -

Oh right, my bad lol! I had a decent offer last time I upgraded (2 years ago) and i took it. This time up to the 3rd phone call I wasnt getting far at all with the usual "I would make it cheaper if I could", but as soon as I said the shop offered me 10% off she gave it me instantly, felt lied to and was ready to leave and go to Vodaphone! Thought I'd try it again once more and they offered me better. Every time I phone they offer better. Just shows persistance works.0 -

I doubt.. My last contract (August 2009 to Feb 2011) was also 10£ per month. I think I went over my allowance only once and that month paid 11-12£. Last contract was as the present contract but no internet and 300 xnet mins, and got the Nokia 5800 for £17. This time still got an excellent deal0 -
Hi, new user but long time reader. Im wondering if anyone can advise me.
Im trying to upgrade using orange retentions department but they keep giving me the worst deals possible.
Ive rang about 9 times and each time i get same poor deals.
My contract has ended and my average bill for the last 6-8 months are around £60- £70 (£35 line rental) so i have been overspending alot.
Im currently on 1200 mins, 500 texts and 500mb internet but anything they offer is more than my current line rental with same mins/texts even with a crap nokia phone!0 -
Finally got through to 'retentions' - about a 20 minute wait.
Best deal I could get:
HTC Desire HD - free
400 mins Anytime
800 texts
500Mb data
Unlimited Landline Calls
24 month contract
£15.31 monthly.
Took the deal as that's way above my current usage.
Plan now is to sell the Desire HD, buy an iPhone 4 (and a sim cutter!) for £100 or so difference, and so, get a decent deal and tariff for the iPhone 4.0
