Orange Retention Offers

Also not impressed with Orange at the moment - 4 weeks ago when i was 2 months before end of contract got offered a great deal:
900 mins
500 texts
80MB
Unlim landlines
£15 per month
I didn't like the phones on offer and a week later agreed i would wait for the Nokia N8 to come out was told it would be couple of weeks, they couldn't say what they might charge me for the phone but as a maximum discount customer i would get a good deal.
Phoned back 2 weeks later to see if N8's were in stock - no they weren't, would be in the next day, i would get the phone for free and discussed if i could get more data in the deal when it came in - was told they could throw in 500MB data for free too.
Great - just gotta wait for the phone to come in the following day.
But none came in -phone the following week to check...then they put me on the back order...phone up few days later when they said they were expecting them in ....not there try in the afternoon...told last night not there will be within 24 hours....
i check on the deal details and am told that a similar deal will now cost me £35 a month not £15 anymore...that what i was told a week ago no longer stands as my loyalty rewards are now removed from my account as it was based a large phonebill i'd had, and that at this stage that was no longer taken into consideration ...had i been told at the start my loyalty points/max discount customer status would run out in 3 weeks obviously i'd have taken the original deal.
Now they want to offer less mins/data for an extra £20 a month.
I've requested my PAC code and told them i'll be leaving as for £35 a month i'd now rather pay T Mobile for the same deal....
I feel like i've been strung along waiting for an N8 that they knew i wanted and following the delays with them coming in they have now retracted the good deal right at the end on the basis my loyalty reward is suddenly no longer there/available to me.
I realise the deals can't be kept available for ever, but i was expecting the phone to come in sooner and the deal was still available 6 days ago. and i had no reason to expect it woudl suddenly change so significantly. Seems unfair to me that your account over the whole contract period is not considered.0 -

Hi Chegs,
Yup, Orange pulled the same stunt with me last month. A high bill I had in August meant that I would be eligible for 'pretty much anything' the Orange Upgrades people said, shame nothing I wanted was in stock.
I was told to wait until the N8/ Desire HD was available and I would get them at great prices no problem. Skip forward 4 weeks, and I'm no longer a Band 5 customer, so anything that was said was a load of rubbish.

I've got an orange phone here and i've been on the virgin eq pay monthly offer which i don't even understand. I get bills for £45 sometimes a month and still get charged for msg's. I've read some of your post's and I have tried to contact orange myself but they tell me to go into a shop and sort it which i am not able to do. can anyone give me a number that is helpfull or any advice please, would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou

Are you an orange customer or Virgin? If its Virgin then of course orange aren't going to talk to you.0 -
Thanks Samuraiman89
So frustrating after waiting for weeks looking forward to a new phone and a great deal to find out i can't have it afterall, the bloke was apologetic it was withdrawn but i don't think it's a fair way to manage customers...if the deal had changed a bit over the last week i could accept it as fair enough...but not by that much!
now the hassle of finding a deal elsewhere...0 -

I spent yesterday really grilling Orange about their upgrade practices and the woman I spoke to was so incredibly rude. She said I was 'wasting her time' when I asked her whether there was anything better they could offer me.
Well after escalating the call to her manager and doing a 360 and being utterly charming, I got what I wanted in the end. They offered me a decent deal (listed on Page 184), which they initially withdrew because the offer had expired.
Finding good customer service is so hard these days!
Good luck in your hunt for a mobile0 -

Cheers
I'll see what i can get as a new customer elsewhere and when i'm down to the final week of contract, see if orange can better it!
I might also try your tactics and try orange again to see if they can sort anything out for me, the original offer is logged on their system so they can't deny it existed - just need someone with a bit more authority who may be able to offer more due to the circumstances of the offer being pulled!0 -

The Virgin eq has no data on it, if you've put the sim in a smart phone or used it to surf or check/download emails that'll be why your bills shot up ?
Its not been available for years so I doubt many of the agents know anything about it now.0 -
Its nearly time for my upgrade, But I have yet to decide to go for the HTC Desire HD or the Samsung (Google) Nexus 2 with (gingerbread (Android2.3)).0

Orange have been trying to get people off Virgin EQ for bloody ages, pretty much every customer whos on the tariff makes them a loss0

All Orange pay monthly customers (OVP Virgin is a monthly tariff) can add a mobile internet browsing bundle - £5 per month for 500MB or £10 for 1GB.
