Just been offered Sony-Ericsson W995 with either:

600min, unltd texts, unltd internet £22.50
    or...
800mins, 300 texts, unltd landlines, no internet £22.50

Do they seem like half decent deals? I feel like I'm forced to pay more for stuff I don't need as I only use 200-ish texts per month and average 250mins.

Hard to find anything else better from other providers to haggle with. Loyalty doesn't seem to get me far!

    What do you reckon?

The reason they offer you so much, is because you don't use it... looks like an awesome offer, but they are at no loss.

Tell them you don't want or need that many minutes and you want a further discount.... what was your last contract?

If it was quite low, that offer seems good.

    Thanks for the reply.

I specifically told them I've got too many minutes and never use them so want to trade down. The guy even told me his computer says my average monthly usage is down around 250. The minutes offered were originally half the above, but apparently the computer allowed him to double them up for no extra charge, presumably to again make me feel like I was getting a lot for my money... but I don't need them!

Last contract was £20/month for 700mins (way too much as it turns out, but took it last time as I binned my landline so was unsure), 200 texts, unltd landline calls, Nokia 6300.

I'm currently working out if the anytime/any network minutes will cover my landline call usage as well, if it does then the internet usage interests me (never had it before).

I suppose I can punt my 6300 to Mazuma for £30 and it works out closer.

I guess what I want is the above deal for £20. Might ring again tomorrow. ;)

That's great - one stupid question though - what is 7-10 loyalty credit?? I think the Panther details relate to 24 month contract though and he only wants 18 month - do you think they would offer him those terms on a 18 month contract?

Loyalty credit: for every year you have been with Orange they give you a loyalty credit, it can be monetry or percentage. I.e. I get a tenner I think across two handsets, my partner gets 5%

That is a very important point, I know I get 1200 minutes and unlimited texts, I use about 3,000 texts so that's superb, but if I use half my minutes I am lucky.

Daggy do you know of any provider who includes 08 numbers in their bundles. I ring 0870/0845 etc all the time and it costs a bomb. Even my doctors is an 0844 number lol. I know there's an app for an iphone saynoto0870, but I dont have the iphone yet - can you install anything on a regular handset to this end? x

    Hi

I'm out of contract on 12/4 with Orange. Currently I get 850 mins, 500 texts for 20p/m.

To stay with them they have offered me the racoon 25p/m - 800 mins/ 1000 texts/ unlimited internet + HTC desire (free - once it is released).

Is this a good deal? They don't seem to want to negiotate anymore with me.

    Thanks

Orange contract about to expire (June but in 3 month window). Currently on Dolphin 40 but pay £30 p/m. 900 mins + unlimited texts. Think it has orange maps thrown in.

Looking for replacement phone - needs a QWERTY keyboard, thought about LG GW520, GW620, Nokia N97, Motorola Dext.

Retentions didn't seem particularly interested, said I'd got 130 quids worth of loyalty or something.

    They offered GW520 @ 32.50, same tariff but chuck in 500mb internet. Or a BB 8520 @ 35.00

Seems pretty poor. Can get much better deal as new customer from orange or with other providers:-

    Can get N97 down to £30 pm. Dext £21.39, GW 520 @ 16.50 GW 620 @ 19.44 (broadly similar mins/texts/net).

So, of the phones I'm considering which has the best rep? And, is it worth persevering with Orange? (Of course obvious problem is I actually have to make up my mind what I want so I know what to ask for!).

Called Orange back this morning, they weren't going to budge on the monthly cost. However, they did give me 800 mins, 300 texts, unltd landlines and unltd internet for the £22.50, which isn't bad.
