Hey again, they wouldn't budge any further. I'm happy with it though, as it means over the couse of the contract I'm paying £558 and the phone sim free is £500 anyways. It's also £6 a month less than I was paying and as I said I've saved £180 off the contract and £100 on the phone so all is well, arrives Wednesday :).

Hi,could I ask what you were paying per month before this deal as I to asked about the x10 today but they wanted £50 for the phone and £27 for the tarrif and my previous spend is around £40 a month including 1200 mins,500 txts, unlimited landlines and unlimited internet, cheers.

Orange haave finally released the SE X10 I've bene waiting for (I know some ppl prefer the desire etc but I prefer the look and extra memory of the X10) so I rang up normal upgrades to test the waters.

I was instantly offered this, without any promping or negotiating or any kind

Sony Ericcson Xperia X10 - Free
    600 mins
    Unlimited Texts
    Unlimited Internet
    18 months

    £25

Now I was quite shocked by that

as the closest offer I can see on the standard site plans is

    Phone - £100
    400 mins
    Unlimited text
    Unlimited Net
    18 month

    £ 35

So I guess my question is...what do you think, is this as good as I think it is or do you think I should try to negotiate further? Seems like I've saved £100 on the phone and £180 on the contract without any effort

OMG well done, i tried today as my contract ends 15/5 . I'm on a premier type contract £40/month and thought great no problems here!
PAH they wanted £99 for the phone and i said nooooo i dont think so , as new customers get it free, but noooo they came back with some b/s that new customer are allowed that deal to get them on side so they get reduced prices whereas existing customers dont get this discount so yeah u got it i laughed again. So he then put me thru to retentions who sed the same so i sed oh well never mind, the fact i have 2 contracts with you obviously means very little and i better wait until 15/5 he sed ok sir thanks bye. This seems really poor and annoyed me to say the least as an existing customer, i like orange service and have 6 people on magic numbers. Maybe its because i use lots of mins eg landlines and magic numbers LOL

Ok, just dipping my toe in the world of iphones.
i'm currently on Dolphin 30 and on average use 200mins and 400 texts a month. Currently on Sony Ericcson w980.
I'm in an 18 month contract due to finish in June but am eligible for upgrade now.

    On Orange I can get:
    8gb iphone for £99 - 18 months - £35
    600 mins
    500 texts
    unlimited data and wifi

    or

    8gb iphone free - 24 months - £35
    600 mins
    ultd texts, data and wi-fi

this is upgrading not through retentions although I have heard they are the same people!?. If I were to cancel my contract now it would cost £56.84 (I'm considering it to move to O2 where I can get 600mins, ultd texts, data, wi-fi for £40pm and £89 16gb handset)

£35 per month is within my budget but i'm really not keen on a 24 month contract and an 8gb seems pointless to me.

Any thoughts would be welcome, not sure whether to jack it all in and got for a free blackberry instead.

I'm monitoring the cheap iphone discussion thread too for tips but I'm finding it all abit overwhelming.

I'd wait for the new iPhone - you'll kick yourself if you get a 24 month contract on the current one, or rather the 3g, then a new one comes out.

    Hi
My partner is with Orange and his contract ended in Jan 2010 (he is very lazy about checking this kind of stuff). He pays £25 per month for 300 min and 100 text (this seems rubbish to me). He now wants an 18 month Blackberry contract (any where he can pick up and send emails) - what is the best option when calling up - he is not too good on the phone!!
Looks like T Mobile have the Curve 8520 on 18 months for £20 with 300 min, 300 txt and internet (which looks unltd owing to the flexible booster thing). Should be mentino other offers when calling or just see what they say?
He wants about 300-400 mins and say 150 texts and to be able to get his emails etc.
    Thanks

As his contract isn't a very high one, he may struggle to get an exceptional deal, as orange haven'tmade much dosh off him.

However, the deal you want isn't too high, so you might be able to get it, ask if they can match other offers.

I'm signing up to a f+f discount in the next couple of days. Anyway I'm going to upgrade my plan to the new panther 35 24 month contract..
What I don't get is e.g. why the htc hero is free on that contract for new customers, yet when I go through upgrades, it's £99.99?!
    Why is this?!
    Jack

You could just leave and take out a new contract, although if you're attached to your current number, that would be problematic.

Daggy,I have the text and previous texts they changed after verbally agreeing minutes earlier on the phone a different deal and they know that, but still told me they will not honour it.I have written to customer services and spoken to Trading Standards who advised they are looking into numerous cases of a similar nature with the phone providers

Let us know how it goes, but I'd assume that if they agreed to a contract, they are, well, bound by that contract.
